Olympus Sandton development
Marble Hospitality is preparing to open its first hotel, a five-star property set within the Olympus Sandton development, marking a significant step for the Johannesburg-based group known for its upscale dining brands.
The hotel will form part of the broader mixed-use project led by Tricolt Group and Growthpoint Properties, adding a hospitality offering to the residential and retail-focused complex.
The company currently operates some of South Africa’s most recognizable dining spots, including Marble in Rosebank, Saint in Sandton and the Pantry by Marble convenience stores.
Their venues have shaped a loyal following, and the move into hospitality reflects a shift toward offering guests a more complete experience.

A new chapter for the brand
The 32-room hotel will span two floors beneath the penthouses in Tower 2, known as Apollo. Gary Kyriacou, founder and partner at Marble Hospitality, said the hotel reflects years of planning and the group’s desire to create a space that feels both refined and personal.
“This new hotel represents our vision to redefine luxury accommodation in South Africa,” Kyriacou said. “We are bringing the same attention to detail, creativity and experiential approach that we’ve applied to our restaurants and entertainment spaces.
This is a natural extension of who we are and what our guests have come to expect from us.”
Marble will manage the hotel directly and maintain full ownership of the brand, giving the group control over service standards and guest experience.

Part of a larger Sandton hub
Within the Olympus Sandton development, the hotel will sit alongside two additional Marble-run spaces: the Marble Restaurant on the 18th floor, offering panoramic views of the district, and the Pantry by Marble on the ground level.
A breakfast and lunch outlet will also be added at podium level, rounding out the food-and-beverage options for residents, visitors and hotel guests.
Olympus features two residential towers, retail stores and dining areas designed to serve the growing Sandton community. Construction began in November 2025, with completion planned for late 2027.
The hotel is expected to welcome its first guests around mid-2028, once the building is fully operational.
Kyriacou’s path in business
Kyriacou’s move into hotels builds on more than two decades in South Africa’s retail and hospitality sectors.
He has owned several retail properties, operated Spar supermarkets and played a role in hospitality programs during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
He is also a shareholder in the South African arm of Century 21, the global real estate company.
His career began in the family business, where he oversaw the opening and management of Spar stores as director of retail and commercial development.
He later expanded into other ventures, including co-owning a printing company supplying the hospitality industry and helping launch Lulu, a coffee brand that grew its own loyal following.
