  • Egypt’s EGX hosts major REITs fueling construction, housing, and tourism development nationwide.
  • Local and foreign investors are boosting liquidity in Egypt’s real estate investment sector.
  • EGX-listed REITs showcase Egypt’s macro reforms and sectoral strength across urban development.

Egypt’s real estate sector has evolved into an institutional-grade investment hub, underpinned by a dynamic Egyptian Exchange (EGX)—now among Africa’s most influential capital markets.

As of June 11, 2025, the EGX recorded a total market capitalization of EGP 2.33 trillion ($47.12 billion), playing a critical role in capital formation and economic growth.

Key sectors such as construction, financial services, and real estate collectively accounted for 12.97 percent of the exchange’s total valuation.

Egyptian investors dominated trading activity, making up 92.1 percent of the value traded in listed stocks (excluding block trades), while foreigners and Arab investors represented 3.1 percent and 4.7 percent, respectively. Foreign investors were net buyers with a balance of EGP 143.1 million ($2.89 million), while Arab investors posted net sales worth EGP 45.1 million ($0.91 million).

Backed by macroeconomic reforms, deepening capital markets, and strong sectoral demand, Egypt is positioning itself as a frontier investment destination—attracting growing institutional and cross-border interest in real estate and beyond.

Shore Africa spotlights the top 10 publicly listed real estate investment platforms on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX), shedding light on their market size, development focus, and strategic role in shaping Egypt’s landscape.
