  • ADvTECH acquires Regis Runda to expand Makini Schools’ reach in Nairobi’s growing education market.
  • Deal includes AI tools and sports facility upgrades to elevate student outcomes and learning experience.
  • Acquisition supports ADvTECH’s East African growth strategy and regional private education leadership.

ADvTECH Ltd., Africa’s largest private education provider, has deepened its East African footprint with the acquisition of Regis Runda Academy in Nairobi, Kenya, for KSh1.23 billion ($9.5 million), further strengthening its Makini Schools brand in the region.

The school, located in the rapidly developing Runda area northeast of Nairobi, has a capacity of 2,000 students and offers a full K–12 curriculum.

Following the transaction, it will be rebranded as Makini Schools Runda, becoming one of the flagship campuses under ADvTECH’s East African operations.

AI-led upgrade to boost academic delivery and student life
As part of the post-acquisition strategy, ADvTECH will invest in AI-powered digital learning tools and enhanced sporting infrastructure at the Runda campus.

These improvements aim to elevate the student experience and optimize academic outcomes, aligning with the group’s pan-African commitment to innovation-driven education delivery.

“We are delighted to increase our Makini Schools footprint in Kenya and to bring the brand’s compelling proposition to parents and students in one of the fastest developing regions of Nairobi,” said Geoff Whyte, CEO of ADvTECH Group.

East African footprint widens with strategic acquisitions
The Regis Runda acquisition follows ADvTECH’s November 2024 purchase of Flipper International School in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia—part of its broader strategy to solidify its presence in key African education hubs.

The group’s growing East African portfolio positions it to meet rising demand for quality private education across the continent.

With the rebranding and investment rollout, Makini Schools Runda is expected to integrate seamlessly into ADvTECH’s broader network of premium K–12 institutions, which includes Crawford International and Trinityhouse in Southern Africa.

ADvTECH builds scale across African education landscape
Founded in 1993 and listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, ADvTECH operates over 118 education institutions across the basic and higher education segments, serving more than 100,000 students.

The group has pursued a cross-border strategy anchored in academic excellence, digital transformation, and operational scale.

Under the leadership of CEO Geoff Whyte, ADvTECH has emerged as a continental leader in private education, with Kenya, Botswana, Ethiopia, and now Ghana forming critical pillars in its multi-country growth strategy.

The latest Kenyan acquisition underscores ADvTECH’s vision to become Africa’s most trusted and innovative education group—transforming student outcomes while unlocking long-term shareholder value.
