SportyBet, one of Africa’s most recognized sports betting platforms, has relaunched operations in Kenya after a three-year pause, marking a major play in one of the continent’s fastest-growing mobile gaming markets.

The comeback highlights rising competition in Kenya’s digital betting scene, where stricter regulations are reshaping the industry.

The company’s exit in 2022 followed a wave of government crackdowns on betting firms over tax compliance and licensing, a move that forced many operators to scale back or exit entirely.

With its return, SportyBet is positioning itself as a tech-driven, customer-first platform, banking on innovation and transparency to win back Kenyan players.

Cashout Revolution: Redefining real-time betting in Kenya

Central to the relaunch is SportyBet’s Cashout Revolution, a betting tool that allows players to lock in profits or cut losses mid-game. Users can also set automated cashout rules, adding a level of customization rarely seen in Africa’s betting market.

“Cashout is now more than a feature—it’s a player empowerment tool,” said SportyBet Kenya CEO Samwel Muchai. “We’re giving customers control, speed, and flexibility in their betting experience.”

The platform also introduced an upgraded live betting interface, enabling wagers to be placed in real time as matches unfold—a key differentiator in Kenya’s mobile-first sports betting market.

Instant M-Pesa withdrawals target frustrated bettors

Kenya’s betting players have long complained about delayed payouts. SportyBet aims to tackle this pain point by promising instant M-Pesa withdrawals.

Deposits are equally seamless, with top-ups available via M-Pesa Paybill 590555 or through direct online payments, offering near-instant access to betting services.

Beyond traditional sports betting, SportyBet has expanded its offerings to include 24/7 virtual gaming and esports betting, catering to Kenya’s growing demand for always-on entertainment platforms.

Kenya’s mobile betting market remains a lucrative battleground

Kenya is one of Africa’s largest mobile betting markets, driven by high smartphone penetration and a strong digital payments ecosystem.

SportyBet’s aggressive relaunch signals confidence in Kenya’s potential and a willingness to compete in a crowded market where only the most compliant, tech-savvy platforms are thriving.
