Egypt is moving to strengthen its tourism industry with a $2.5 million agreement to rehabilitate and operate the Jet Beach Hotel in Ain Sokhna, a growing coastal town on the Red Sea, Egypt.
The deal, signed between the Egyptian General Company for Tourism and Hotels (EGOTH) and Petroleum Projects and Technical Consultations Company (Petrojet), underscores Cairo’s wider plan to expand hospitality while breathing new life into state-owned assets.
Under the 20-year contract, EGOTH will oversee the upgrade, management, and relaunch of the Jet Beach Hotel. Officials say the move is meant to improve service quality, create jobs, and reinforce Ain Sokhna’s position as one of Egypt’s luxury beach destinations.

A Push for Coastal Tourism
The agreement was formalized in the presence of Public Enterprises Minister Mohamed El-Shimy and Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi, alongside senior executives from EGOTH and Petrojet.
Walid Lotfy, Chairman of Petrojet, and Hisham El-Demery, EGOTH’s Managing Director, signed the contract. Amr Attia of the Holding Company for Tourism and Hotels also attended.
El-Shimy called the redevelopment a model of cooperation between state entities, saying it would increase Egypt’s hotel capacity and boost returns from underused public assets.
“Reopening Jet Beach Hotel will expand hospitality offerings in Ain Sokhna, generate new jobs, and support the government’s strategy to grow coastal tourism,” El-Shimy said.

Energy Expertise Meets Tourism Investment
Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi highlighted the partnership as an example of repurposing state resources.
“Turning Jet Beach Hotel into a tourism asset adds value beyond the energy sector and shows how cooperation can create new investment opportunities,” he said.
EGOTH, which manages several landmark hotels across Egypt, will apply its operational experience to ensure service standards match international expectations.
Redevelopment strengthens Egypt’s tourism strategy
The Jet Beach Hotel covers 15,345 square meters and will undergo a full renovation, including its annexes. EGOTH will oversee technical upgrades and operational improvements, with completion expected in 18 months.
The project may also add entertainment and leisure facilities aimed at attracting more domestic and international visitors.
Government officials stressed the redevelopment is part of Egypt’s broader reform agenda, which seeks to optimize state-owned assets through long-term partnerships rather than short-term gains.
Strengthening Egypt’s Tourism Strategy
For Cairo, the Jet Beach Hotel redevelopment is more than just a single project. It reflects a wider ambition to turn dormant properties into revenue-generating businesses while positioning Egypt as a leading Mediterranean and Red Sea tourism market.
By blending hospitality expertise with cross-sector investment, the government hopes to expand its global tourism footprint, stimulate local economies, and create lasting value for communities and investors alike.
