Le Méridien Ile Maurice is more than a five-star resort. Stretched along a kilometer of white sand at Pointe aux Piments, it brings together the calm of Mauritius’ northwest coast with the ease of island life — where sunsets sink directly into the Indian Ocean and the rhythm of the day slows with the tide.
The property reopened in 2022 after a $60 million renovation that refreshed its look and feel. The redesign combines modern, open lines with natural textures and a stronger connection to the sea. The atmosphere is cosmopolitan yet personal, with service described by many guests as attentive without being distant.

A legacy updated
One of the first international luxury brands to plant a flag in Mauritius, Le Méridien has long carried a reputation as a gateway for global travelers.
Now part of Marriott International, the resort reflects a wider polish while holding on to the island’s character.
The update brought lighter interiors, airy common areas, and a focus on letting the sea remain the centerpiece.

Life by the water
Mauritius’ northwest is known for sheltered lagoons and calmer waters than the breezier east coast.
From the resort, guests can watch fishing boats return at dawn, step easily into Port Louis or Grand-Baie, or take to the ocean on catamaran cruises, snorkeling trips, and dolphin encounters. Back onshore, terraces and pools turn into vantage points for sunset.

Rooms and dining
Each of the 261 rooms and suites faces the water, with balconies, terraces, or plunge pools that keep the coast in view. The Nirvana wing caters to adults with its own infinity pool and bar service, while larger suites welcome families and long-stay travelers.
Dining spreads across four main venues: Nomad with its sweeping views, Jade with Asian flavors, Kumin offering Indian cuisine, and Waves, a seafront grill. Latitude 20 shifts from café to cocktail bar, while private jetty dinners give guests a chance to mark special occasions.

Wellness and milestones
The Explore Spa introduces the island’s first snow room, alongside treatment areas, yoga, and fitness facilities.
For more active days, guests find a PADI dive center, tennis courts, and water sports. Families are supported with a kids’ club, while couples gravitate to the adults-only spaces.
With its ballroom, beachfront lawns, and terraces, the property has also become a setting for weddings, corporate gatherings, and anniversaries.

A contemporary retreat
Le Méridien Ile Maurice today blends the comfort of an international brand with the warmth of Mauritian hospitality.
It is more than a place to stay. For many travelers, it offers a pause — a chance to belong, even briefly, to an island where the ocean sets the pace and the horizon always feels close.
