Egypt is moving quickly to expand its digital landscape through a three-year partnership between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and Swedish telecommunications company Ericsson.
The collaboration is designed to accelerate Egypt’s information and communications technology (ICT) sector while boosting digital services across the country.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly described the partnership as a key step in the country’s broader digital strategy.
Aligned with the Digital Egypt Strategy for Offshoring Industry 2022–2026, the initiative focuses on improving ICT infrastructure, supporting research and development, and creating employment opportunities for young professionals entering the tech workforce.
The agreement includes programs to build digital skills, host job fairs, and foster academic collaborations aimed at preparing students and graduates for technology careers.
“This partnership brings global experience together with local talent, giving Egypt a strong position in the international tech arena,” said Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat.
He noted that 55 global and local companies are now actively investing in Egypt’s offshoring and IT services sector.

Egypt emerging as a technology hub
Ahmed El-Zaher, CEO of ITIDA, emphasized that the collaboration reflects growing international confidence in Egypt’s capabilities. “Our country has shifted from being a service destination to a global partner delivering advanced digital solutions,” he said.
Kevin Murphy, President of Ericsson North Middle East, added that the agreement strengthens Ericsson’s presence in Egypt and supports its work on 5G deployment, digital transformation, and innovation, consistent with Egypt Vision 2030.
Ericsson, which operates a large share of the world’s mobile networks, continues to advance mobile technology, including 5G infrastructure, aiming to connect devices and services worldwide.
ITIDA, founded in 2004, serves as the government’s executive arm for the IT industry, promoting Egypt as a regional hub, attracting foreign investment, and supporting local companies.
Through this partnership, Egypt is positioning itself as a competitive center for ICT services, digital innovation, and technology-driven employment. The collaboration signals a fresh chapter for the country’s tech sector and reinforces its role on the global digital stage.
