Fourways Mall, one of the city’s busiest retail destinations, is taking a bold step to redefine the shopping experience with the launch of a new restaurant-focused wing, set to open early next year.
Named The View for its sweeping western vistas, the redevelopment is designed to transform the mall into a destination not just for shopping, but for dining, entertainment, and leisure.
Anchoring the new wing is Food Lover’s Market, which has continued operations throughout construction, ensuring a familiar touchpoint for regular visitors.
Seattle Coffee Company will also remain, providing continuity as the mall undergoes its most ambitious redevelopment in years.
The redevelopment reflects a strategic push by the mall’s management, led by Flanagan & Gerard in partnership with the Moolman Group, to revitalize underused space and create a differentiated offering in an increasingly competitive Johannesburg market.
The closure of West Pack Lifestyle has opened opportunities for new tenants specializing in liquor, butchery, and organic bakeries, which are set to occupy the ground floor, adding variety and appeal to The View.

Curated dining to draw crowds
Above the ground floor, the mall plans to host up to five new restaurants, with Mozambik confirmed as the first.
Additional tenants are expected to join, reflecting a strategy to fill a gap in quality dining in the area.
With limited options nearby at Cedar Square, Montecasino, and Pineslopes Shopping Centre, Fourways Mall aims to position itself as a premier culinary destination.
According to the mall’s management, the mix of restaurants will cater to families, young professionals, and casual diners, creating a dynamic environment that extends beyond traditional shopping.
Beyond food: Banking and workspaces
The redevelopment is not limited to dining. A reconfigured banking court on the mezzanine will feature Absa, Standard Bank, FNB, and Nedbank, and plans are underway for a potential co-working space.
The design also addresses connectivity, replacing a previously dark and underused corridor with a bright, inviting passage that links The View seamlessly to the rest of the mall.
The project is funded with R50 million from Accelerate Property Fund’s R100 million rights offer in July 2025, supplementing previous investments aimed at repositioning the property for a broader lifestyle offering.

A hub for leisure, fitness, and entertainment
Over the past year, Fourways Mall has rapidly evolved into a mixed-use hub. Fitness and leisure offerings have expanded with the arrival of Planet Fitness, Bloc 11 bouldering gym, Urban Playground, Total Ninja, and Shooters’ adult social play space.
Entertainment options such as Ster-Kinekor cinemas, Adventure Golf, Bounce, The Fun Company, and indoor go-karting complement new dining spots including Spur, Nando’s, RocoMamas, and Vida e Caffè.
Retail has also grown, welcoming Huawei, Petshop Science, Burnt Studios, Yuppiechef, Soviet Jeans, and Me & B, alongside expanded Lacoste and Crocs outlets, leaving only a few major national tenants like Zara absent.
Extended trading hours and free parking after 5 p.m. are designed to increase foot traffic and dwell time.

Redefining the Johannesburg shopping experience
With the addition of The View and the broader enhancements across the mall, Fourways Mall is clearly positioning itself as a leading lifestyle and leisure destination in Johannesburg.
By blending shopping, dining, fitness, and entertainment under one roof, the property is evolving from a traditional mall into a community hub that caters to diverse audiences.
Mall management believes these upgrades will not only attract shoppers but also create a vibrant social destination that keeps visitors coming back.
