Tanzania is reassuring international travelers after recent reports raised concerns over safety in the East African nation.
Government officials stressed that the country remains secure, stable, and open to visitors, emphasizing its appeal as a world-class tourism destination.
With renowned natural landmarks, including Mount Kilimanjaro, the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and the idyllic beaches of Zanzibar, Tanzania continues to draw millions of tourists each year.
Dar es Salaam, the country’s commercial hub, also offers vibrant cultural experiences, reinforcing the nation’s reputation as both safe and welcoming.
Speaking at a press briefing in Dar es Salaam, Gerson Msigwa, government spokesperson and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, highlighted the country’s ongoing efforts to protect travelers.
He underscored that national parks, accommodations, and transport networks are fully operational, maintained to international standards, and continuously improving.

Focused on security and infrastructure
“Visitors can expect comfortable, secure, and memorable experiences throughout Tanzania,” Msigwa said.
He noted that the government collaborates closely with tourism operators to ensure safety across all regions, particularly in the Northern Circuit and coastal areas, which remain highly popular with both domestic and international tourists.
Msigwa described recent reports of instability as “misleading and detached from reality,” pointing to the country’s robust security measures coordinated between national and regional agencies.
Investments in upgraded roads, expanded airports, and enhanced tourism policing strengthen Tanzania’s credibility as a reliable and safe travel destination.

Encouraging responsible travel reporting
The government also called on international media to adhere to responsible reporting standards and urged travelers to consult verified sources when planning trips.
“Tanzania continues to welcome tourists with stability, unmatched natural beauty, and warm hospitality,” Msigwa said, reaffirming the country’s commitment to providing world-class experiences for visitors.
