Marriott Bonvoy has opened Morea House in Camps Bay, marking the Autograph Collection’s first hotel in Cape Town. The property adds a fresh luxury option to one of the city’s most visited coastal neighborhoods, known for its beach, restaurants and views of the Twelve Apostles mountain range.
Morea House has 90 rooms and suites, each designed by South African interior architect Tristan du Plessis. Rooms look out onto either the Atlantic Ocean or the surrounding mountains, with interiors that blend contemporary finishes and local materials.

Dining and shared spaces
Food and drink play a central role in the hotel’s layout. On the ground floor, OMRI restaurant serves modern Lebanese-South African dishes, opening onto a terrace that faces the beach and an indoor bar designed for all-day use.
On the second floor, the Morea House Pool Restaurant focuses on seasonal menus served beside the swimming pool. Other shared spaces include a central courtyard for outdoor relaxation, several guest lounges and a dedicated Wine Room used for private tastings and small gatherings.
The hotel also features a spa offering a range of treatments aimed at both short-stay guests and longer leisure visits.

Focus on experience
“When guests arrive, we want them to feel as though they’ve found a place made just for them,” said general manager Albert Smit. “Our goal is for them to leave rested, connected and with a lasting sense of Camps Bay.”
Autograph Collection hotels operate as independent properties under Marriott International, with an emphasis on distinctive design and strong ties to their locations. Each hotel is intended to reflect its surroundings rather than follow a standard brand template.

Marriott’s broader Cape Town plans
Marriott International, the world’s largest hotel group by room count, operates more than 30 brands globally. Marriott Bonvoy serves as its unified loyalty program, allowing members to earn and redeem points across the portfolio.
Cape Town remains a key focus for the group. In December, Marriott said it plans to bring its luxury EDITION brand to Africa for the first time with The Cape Town EDITION, scheduled to open in 2026 at the V&A Waterfront. The project underscores the city’s growing appeal to international hotel operators targeting high-end travelers.
