Mukuru, a leading remittance and financial services provider, has partnered with Travelex to expand cash payout options for customers across South Africa.

The collaboration aims to make sending and receiving money safer, faster, and more convenient for millions who rely on regular transfers for daily expenses. 

The partnership introduces Travelex as an additional payout channel within Mukuru’s growing network.

Customers can now collect funds at any of Travelex’s 46 branches nationwide, located in high-traffic and easily accessible areas.

The expanded network reduces travel time, limits congestion, and ensures quicker access to cash. 

South Africa’s Bureau de Change (BdC) sector provides the regulatory framework supporting this collaboration.

Operators like Travelex meet strict compliance and liquidity standards, ensuring secure transactions.

On-site identity verification, or know-your-customer (KYC) procedures, adds another layer of protection for users.

The partnership introduces Travelex as an additional payout channel within Mukuru’s growing network.

For customers, the partnership delivers clear advantages: access to a wider branch network, faster withdrawals, and the assurance of collecting cash in regulated, trusted locations.

For Mukuru, diversifying payout channels strengthens operational resilience while enhancing service delivery across the country. 

Yemurai Chatapura, commercial manager for remittances at Mukuru, said, “This partnership extends our reach while upholding high standards of security, compliance, and service.

It reinforces our commitment to accessible financial services across South Africa.”

Marlize Van Der Schyff, financial director at Travelex, added, “Together, we’ll provide customers with a seamless payout experience that combines convenience with reliability.”
