Gondwana Collection Namibia has opened The Ekipa, a new private retreat near Etosha National Park, adding another high-end option to its growing Secret Collection.
Set in mopane woodland about 10 kilometers south of Etosha’s Andersson Gate, the lodge is built for two guests, targeting couples and travelers seeking privacy close to one of southern Africa’s busiest wildlife corridors.
The opening comes as Namibia’s tourism sector continues to rebound, with operators expanding boutique properties that blend conservation, culture and premium hospitality.
Gondwana says The Ekipa is designed to reflect local heritage while meeting the expectations of travelers who want space, comfort and access to nature without large crowds.
The company positions the retreat as both a cultural showcase and a quiet base for Etosha game drives.

Design rooted in culture
The Ekipa takes its name from traditional ornamental buttons worn by Namibian women, often linked to identity and social standing.
The design carries those influences into modern architecture, using textured exterior panels inspired by pangolin scales and earthy tones that mirror the surrounding landscape.
Alain Noirfalise, Gondwana’s operational director, said the goal was to create a structure that fits naturally into its setting.
“We wanted something that respects the land and the stories tied to it, while still offering comfort and quality that travelers expect,” Noirfalise said.

A private base near Etosha
Guests staying at The Ekipa receive an all-inclusive package that includes accommodation, meals and access to nearby attractions. The unit features a private plunge pool, panoramic deck views, a fully equipped kitchen and an open-plan lounge area designed for extended stays.
Its proximity to Etosha National Park allows visitors to reach major game-viewing routes early in the morning, a key advantage for photographers and wildlife enthusiasts.
Gondwana Chief Executive Officer Gys Joubert said the project reflects the company’s broader aim to deliver smaller, more personal travel experiences.
“We want guests to leave with a real sense of place, not just photos,” Joubert said. “The Ekipa is about slowing down and connecting with Namibia’s landscape and people.”

Expanding the Secret Collection
The Ekipa joins Gondwana’s Secret Collection, which includes Desert Whisper in the Namib Desert, Reverie Kalahari Pod, The Weinberg Urban Pod in Windhoek, The Pearls Beach Pods in Swakopmund and Namushasha River Villa on the Kwando River.
Each property is designed for two guests and focuses on privacy, curated service and location-driven experiences, as Gondwana continues to invest in boutique luxury across Namibia.
