  • Lodge promotes sustainable, premium tourism, driving longer stays and higher visitor spending.

Zambia’s luxury tourism sector is set to grow with the arrival of Lone Palm Lodge, a boutique camp developed by The Ultra Portfolio. Scheduled to open in mid-2026, the lodge sits on the banks of the Zambezi River, roughly sixteen kilometers upstream from Victoria Falls.

The development signals a move to enhance Zambia’s reputation as a destination for travelers seeking exclusivity, immersion in nature, and high-end experiences.

By adding luxury accommodations in a low-density setting, the lodge offers visitors privacy without distancing them from one of Southern Africa’s most iconic natural landmarks.

Prime Zambezi Lodge targets high-end travelers

Positioned along the Zambezi River, Lone Palm Lodge benefits from a prime tourism corridor that combines wildlife, river vistas, and proximity to Victoria Falls.

While the falls draw global visitors, many high-end travelers increasingly favor lodges that offer quiet and seclusion, allowing them to enjoy nature at their own pace.

This location provides not only scenic value but also supports longer stays and higher spending per guest.

By offering curated access to wildlife and the river, the lodge aligns with Zambia’s goal of attracting travelers who value experiences as much as comfort.

Zambia opens ten luxury tents

The lodge will have just ten air-conditioned luxury tents, including seven along the river and three overlooking an on-site dam. Each tent features indoor and outdoor showers, blending modern comfort with immersive design.

Families with children six and older can be accommodated, preserving exclusivity while appealing to select multi-generational travel.

This boutique model reflects Zambia’s wider approach to low-volume, high-value tourism, which balances economic benefits with environmental preservation.

Shared spaces include riverside lounges, a breakfast deck, a restaurant, two open-air firepits, and a swimming pool. Wellness features such as yoga, sound therapy, and in-room spa treatments cater to travelers seeking rejuvenation alongside sightseeing.

These offerings reinforce a broader trend in luxury tourism: travelers increasingly expect experiences that nourish both mind and body.

Lone Palm drives premium tourism growth

Lone Palm Lodge will provide boat cruises, guided game drives, and other curated excursions. By focusing on quality over quantity, the lodge encourages longer stays and higher visitor spending, boosting local economic impact.

Sustainability is central to operations. The lodge will rely primarily on solar power and offer limited internet access in communal areas, allowing guests to disconnect while remaining comfortable. Such environmentally conscious design appeals to travelers who value mindful, authentic experiences.

Strengthening Zambia’s luxury tourism profile

The lodge adds depth to Zambia’s luxury offerings, creating employment in hospitality, wellness, and conservation. It also strengthens local supply chains by sourcing fresh produce and artisanal goods.

Developments like Lone Palm Lodge demonstrate the country’s ability to attract high-spending travelers while maintaining environmental and cultural integrity.

Set to open in mid-2026, Lone Palm Lodge represents more than just a new property—it is part of a broader effort to position Zambia as a premier destination for experiential, sustainable, and high-end tourism.
