On the ground in Abuja, the numbers tell a clear story. Transcorp Hotels Plc, Nigeria’s leading hospitality group and owner of the Transcorp Hilton Abuja—Nigeria’s only five-star hotel and among the largest in Sub-Saharan Africa—closed 2025 with revenue above $70 million, outperforming expectations and reinforcing its standing among Africa’s top hospitality brands.
In its financial statements for the year ended Dec. 31, 2025, the company reported revenue of N97.04 billion ($70.1 million), up from N70.13 billion ($50.7 million) a year earlier. The increase, driven by strong room bookings, conferencing, food and beverage services and other ancillary offerings, pushed the group closer to the N100 billion revenue mark, a threshold few hospitality businesses in the region have approached at this scale.

Disciplined leadership delivers sustainable growth
The revenue gain carried through to profitability. Gross profit margin expanded to 77 percent from 71 percent in 2024, reflecting higher volumes alongside tighter cost control and operational efficiency. Operating profit rose 35 percent to N35.24 billion ($25.45 million), compared with N26.03 billion ($18.8 million) the previous year. Profit before tax climbed 45 percent to N32.82 billion ($23.7 million) from N22.61 billion ($16.33 million), while profit after tax surged 47 percent to N21.85 billion ($15.8 million), up from $10.76 million in 2024.
For the board, the results speak to steady execution rather than a one-off lift. “I am delighted with the FY 2025 performance of Transcorp Hotels Plc, led by Mrs. Uzoamaka Oshogwe,” said board chair Dr. Awele V. Elumelu. She pointed to a strengthening balance sheet, with the company’s asset base and equity rising by 14 percent and 18 percent, respectively. “We have continued to strengthen the foundation of our company,” Elumelu said, adding that the group remains focused on excellence, business growth and sustainable long-term value.

Uzoamaka Oshogwe leads hospitality growth
Transcorp Hotels operates as the hospitality arm of Transnational Corporation Plc, one of Africa’s leading listed companies with interests spanning power, hospitality and energy. Its flagship asset, the Transcorp Hilton Abuja, anchors a broader portfolio that now includes the recently launched Transcorp Centre, a 5,000-seat venue designed to host large-scale regional and international events.
CEO Uzoamaka Oshogwe framed 2025 as a defining year for the business. “Our full-year 2025 performance represents a major milestone, with record revenue of N97.04 billion ($70.08 million),” she said. Retained earnings rose sharply to N77.55 billion ($56.01 million) from N63.23 billion ($45.7 million) in 2024, a shift she said enhances the company’s financial resilience and capacity for sustained growth. Oshogwe credited disciplined operations, strong cost management and what she described as the team’s commitment to service excellence.

Transcorp Hotels grows assets, boosts dividends
The balance sheet reflects that emphasis on durability. Total assets stood at N159.91 billion as of Dec. 31, 2024, a 14 percent increase from N140.7 billion ($101.6 million) in 2024, underscoring continued investment in physical facilities. With retained earnings now at N77.55 billion ($56.01 million), the board approved a final dividend of N1.2 kobo per share. Combined with the interim dividend of N0.1 kobo per share paid on Aug. 15, 2025, total dividends for the year amount to N1.3 kobo per share.
Beyond the numbers, Transcorp Hotels is positioning itself as a convening hub for the continent. The Transcorp Centre has already been earmarked for high-profile gatherings such as the Afreximbank Annual Meetings and ECOWAS summits, aligning the group with Nigeria’s push to attract global conferences and business tourism. The company says it will continue to invest in infrastructure and technology to strengthen its brand and raise service standards across Africa.
