Minor Hotels is expanding into West Africa with plans to open NH Collection Accra, marking its first property in Ghana and its debut in the subregion.

The signing reflects rising interest in Accra’s hospitality market as international brands look to strengthen their presence in key African business capitals.

The agreement was announced during THINC Middle East 2026, a gathering of hospitality investors and operators.

The move comes as Ghana positions itself as a stable hub for business travel, conferences and diplomatic activity in West Africa.

Accra has drawn increasing attention from global hotel groups in recent years.

Improved air links, a steady flow of multinational firms and sustained government activity have supported demand for upscale accommodation in the city’s commercial districts.

Set to open in 2030, the 200-room NH Collection Accra will form part of a mixed-use development in central Accra, close to Jubilee House, major ministries, embassies and Kotoka International Airport.

Executives say the location was central to the investment decision, given the needs of corporate and diplomatic travelers.

Minor Hotels, headquartered in Bangkok, operates more than 640 properties across 59 countries.

The company has been building its footprint across Africa, targeting cities with strong business travel demand and growing middle-class consumer markets.

Mixed-use development planned

The project is being developed by Swami India Ghana Limited, a real estate group with operations in West Africa and the Middle East.

Plans include hotel, retail and office space designed to create a single destination for visitors and businesses.

Such integrated projects are becoming more common in African capitals, where developers are combining hospitality and commercial space to meet demand from international companies and local entrepreneurs.

Executives cite long-term confidence

Amir Golbarg, chief operating officer for Minor Hotels in the Middle East and Africa, said Ghana is one of West Africa’s most promising markets and expressed confidence in working with the local partner to deliver the project.

Dinesh G. Gorasiya, chairman of Swami India Ghana Limited, said bringing an international brand such as NH Collection to Accra reflects the company’s focus on meeting global standards.

He said the hotel is expected to support business travel and strengthen the city’s standing as a destination for both work and leisure.

As global travel continues to recover, the investment underscores renewed confidence in Africa’s hospitality sector and Accra’s role in regional commerce.
