Dangote Cement Plc, the flagship industrial empire of Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has unveiled a $1 billion expansion plan across Africa.

The agreement, aimed at boosting African production, covers 12 projects in Nigeria, Ethiopia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, and Cameroon, aiming to raise total output to 80 million tonnes annually by 2030.

The expansion aligns with Dangote Group’s Vision 2030 strategy to generate $100 billion in revenue and strengthen its position as Africa’s leading cement producer.

Scaling production across Africa
Under the deal, the projects include a new integrated cement line in Nigeria with a satellite grinding unit, new production lines in Ethiopia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, and Cameroon, as well as capacity expansions at existing Nigerian plants in Itori, Apapa, Lekki, Port Harcourt, and Onne.

Sinoma International Engineering will oversee construction, brownfield expansions, and modernisation efforts, aiming to optimise production efficiency and bolster regional distribution networks.

Aliko Dangote, Founder and President of Dangote Group, described the projects as “critical enablers” designed to capture growing demand in Africa’s construction sector and leverage economies of scale across key regional markets. The initiative also reinforces Dangote Cement’s strategy to maintain domestic market dominance while boosting exports and operational efficiency.

Integrated industrial growth
Beyond cement, Dangote Group continues to expand its industrial footprint in energy and agriculture. The Dangote Fertiliser Plant in Nigeria now serves as a regional hub for nitrogen-based fertilisers, supporting agricultural production across West Africa. Meanwhile, the Dangote Refinery operates at its full capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, supplying petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel to domestic and regional markets.

A milestone in Vision 2030
The $1 billion cement expansion underscores Dangote Group’s ambition to build integrated industrial ecosystems spanning construction, energy, and agriculture.

By combining strategic capacity growth with operational excellence, Dangote Cement is set to shape Africa’s industrial landscape while reinforcing the group’s long-term Vision 2030 roadmap.
