Mark Zuckerberg, co-founder of Meta Platforms and the world’s fifth-richest billionaire, has expanded his real estate portfolio with a $170 million purchase on Miami’s exclusive Indian Creek Island, a neighborhood known as the “Billionaire Bunker.”

Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, acquired the property at 7 Indian Creek Island Road, closing the deal on March 2, according to two people familiar with the transaction. The sale sets a record for the most expensive home transaction in Miami-Dade County, surpassing the $120 million sale of a Star Island mansion by developer Vlad Doronin in 2025.

The property was previously owned by celebrity cosmetic surgeon Aaron Rollins and real estate agent Marine Rollins. They bought the two-acre property for $30 million in 2020 and began construction on what was planned to be one of the most elaborate homes on the island. The partially completed mansion had been listed for $200 million last November by Jill and Danny Hertzberg of the Jills‑Zeder Group at Coldwell Banker Realty, who represented the sellers.

Designed by architect Ferris Rafauli, the mansion will cover roughly 30,000 square feet and feature nine bedrooms, a private dock, a swimming pool, a 1,500-gallon aquarium, and a library with a hidden passageway. The property overlooks Biscayne Bay, one of South Florida’s most sought-after waterfront locations.

Indian Creek hosts billionaire estates

Indian Creek Island spans 294 acres and is home to just 41 properties, including estates owned by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, hedge fund investor Carl Icahn, and former NFL quarterback Tom Brady. Other residents include Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, Colombian banker Jaime Gilinski Bacal, art collector Norman Braman, and former Sears CEO Eddie Lampert.

Zuckerberg joins a growing wave of tech billionaires moving into Miami. Alphabet co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin have collectively spent over $238 million on Miami real estate. It remains unclear if the Indian Creek home will be Zuckerberg’s primary residence or another addition to a portfolio that includes houses in Palo Alto, Lake Tahoe, Washington, D.C., and land in Kauai, Hawaii.

Billionaire moves influence Miami’s high-end market

Mark Zuckerberg’s wealth stems mainly from his roughly 13 percent stake in Meta, valued at about $231 billion by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index and $228.9 billion by Forbes. His broad assets holding also include a $300 million yacht, extensive Hawaiian land holdings, and a pledge to give away 99 percent of his Meta shares over his lifetime.

The record sale in Miami’s luxury market highlights growing demand for high-end properties, driven by tech entrepreneurs and finance executives. Buyers are increasingly targeting waterfront homes along Biscayne Bay, reshaping the city’s premium real estate sector and signaling a shift in investor interest toward exclusive coastal properties.
