South African businessman Desmond de Beer to receive $6.3 million from Lighthouse

South African businessman Desmond de Beer is set to receive about $6.3 million after Lighthouse Properties declared a €30.24 million ($35.23 million) interim dividend for the six months ended Dec. 31, 2025, to shareholders.

The Malta-based real estate group announced a dividend of €0.014478 per share, scheduled for payment on March 17. The payout represents a 121.37% increase compared with the previous year and reflects stronger performance.

De Beer, chief executive of Resilient REIT, holds a 17.74% stake in Lighthouse through Delsa Investments, an investment vehicle linked to the Grove Trust. His shareholding amounts to more than 370 million shares, making him one of the company’s largest investors.

Lighthouse profit growth accelerates
For the six months ended Dec. 31, Lighthouse reported operating profit of €82.63 million ($96.08 million). Net profit increased significantly to €68.71 million ($79.87 million), up from €41.99 million ($48.81 million) the previous year.

The growth reflects strong tenant demand and improved asset performance across the company’s retail real estate portfolio.

Rising shareholder returns
Distributable earnings per share rose 7.51% to €0.0276, while net asset value per share increased 5.11% to €0.449.

The dividend payment will be funded from Lighthouse’s retained earnings of €257.6 million ($299.62 million), highlighting the group’s strong balance sheet and commitment to delivering consistent shareholder returns.

Expansion across Europe
Under the leadership of CEO Justin Muller, Lighthouse has expanded its footprint across France, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

The company has shifted its strategy toward direct property ownership and infrastructure investments, strengthening its position as a major European retail property investor.

With a diversified portfolio and disciplined financial management, Lighthouse continues to deliver steady returns for investors such as Desmond de Beer.
