Temasek Holdings, a global investment company headquartered in Singapore, is exploring broader investment opportunities in Tanzania as both sides look to deepen economic ties and expand cooperation in key sectors.

The discussions emerged during a meeting between Tanzania’s ambassador to Singapore, resident in Jakarta, Macocha Tembele, and Temasek’s head of institutional relations for Southeast Asia, Chua Eu Jin, during the envoy’s recent working visit to Singapore.

Their talks centered on ways to expand investment partnerships while showcasing Tanzania’s growing opportunities across strategic areas of the economy.

Tanzania seeks deeper Temasek investment

Ambassador Tembele said Tanzania remains committed to attracting long-term investment and strengthening cooperation with global investors, including Singapore’s state-backed investment institutions.

He also pointed to existing investments by Pavilion Energy, a Temasek subsidiary, particularly in Tanzania’s natural gas sector. According to the ambassador, the investment reflects confidence among Singaporean investors in the country’s economic outlook.

Tembele invited Temasek to consider expanding its presence in Tanzania, especially in energy, infrastructure, the digital economy, financial services and modern agriculture.

For his part, Chua outlined Temasek’s investment structure, explaining that the firm holds equity stakes in major Singaporean companies while also making direct investments across global markets.

He said the company focuses on sectors such as digital technology, infrastructure, energy and sustainable projects, areas that align with many of Tanzania’s development priorities.

Both sides said continued dialogue and knowledge sharing would be important in building long-term investment partnerships.
