Aveng Limited, the South African infrastructure and engineering group, has appointed Naidene Ford-Hoon and Graeme Bevans as independent non-executive directors, naming Bevans chairman-designate as the South African infrastructure and engineering group strengthens governance and positions for long-term growth.

The move follows Bevans’ leadership of multibillion-dollar infrastructure portfolios at Atlas Arteria, adding global capital allocation expertise to Aveng’s board at a time when disciplined execution is critical across the sector.

Governance depth strengthens board oversight
Ford-Hoon brings more than 25 years of experience spanning financial services, regulation, and auditing. Her career includes senior roles at Alexander Forbes Group Holdings, the South African Reserve Bank, and KPMG.

A chartered accountant, she has held board positions at Capitec Bank Holdings and SA Corporate Real Estate, with deep expertise in audit, risk management, and governance frameworks. Her appointment reinforces Aveng’s financial oversight as the company navigates complex operating conditions.

Bevans signals leadership transition
Bevans, a seasoned global infrastructure executive, will assume the role of chairman-designate effective March 30, 2026, signaling a structured leadership transition at board level.

He previously served as CEO of Atlas Arteria, overseeing a multibillion-dollar portfolio across transport, utilities, and energy infrastructure assets. His experience spans Europe, Australia, and North America, positioning him to guide Aveng’s strategic direction in increasingly competitive infrastructure markets.

Committee reshuffle boosts accountability
As part of the board overhaul, Bevans will join the risk, remuneration, nominations, and investment committees, while Ford-Hoon will chair the audit committee, with both directors serving across key governance and risk structures. The restructuring strengthens oversight across capital allocation, financial reporting, and strategic execution.

Strategy aligned with infrastructure growth
For Aveng, the appointments enhance board capability as it executes long-term strategy in a capital-intensive environment. The company is positioning itself to benefit from rising infrastructure demand while maintaining strict capital discipline.

The leadership changes underscore Aveng’s focus on governance excellence and investor confidence amid sustainable long-term value creation. The appointments follow regulatory checks under JSE Listings Requirements, with both executives meeting fit-and-proper standards.
