FCMB Capital Markets leads FMDQ Sponsors’ league table in 2025 with $1.1 billion raised

FCMB Capital Markets Limited, the investment banking arm of FCMB Group Plc, raised N1.53 trillion ($1.1 billion) in corporate debt capital in 2025 through bond listings and commercial paper quotations on FMDQ Securities Exchange Limited. The company topped the exchange’s Fixed Income Primary Markets Sponsors’ League Table for the year ended December 31, 2025, reflecting its leading role in Nigeria’s debt capital markets.

According to FMDQ’s report, FCMB Capital Markets led sponsor contributions across both bond listings and commercial paper quotations. In the bond market, the firm accounted for 11.66 percent of total listings, securing the top position among 58 registration members. In the commercial paper market, it achieved the highest share of quotations at 7.68 percent, surpassing other registered sponsors, with 77 participants in total. In all, 47 institutions actively sponsored fixed-income securities listings or quotations during the year, excluding Federal Government securities.

Strong demand drives capital market growth

“Our ranking reflects the confidence issuers place in our ability to structure and execute capital market transactions,” said Femi Badeji, Executive Director of Coverage and Investment Banking at FCMB Group Plc. “Mobilizing more than N1 trillion ($722 million) in a single year demonstrates the strong demand for capital market funding and our role in connecting issuers with long-term investors.”

Over the past five years, FCMB Capital Markets has been involved in numerous debt and equity deals across sectors such as oil and gas, power, real estate, financial services, consumer goods, and telecommunications. The firm was recognized as Corporate Bond House of the Year at the 2025 Investment Banking Awards by the Association of Issuing Houses of Nigeria. Its services include debt and equity advisory, project finance, mergers and acquisitions, and restructuring.
