  • Shaboozey blends hip-hop, country, and rock, redefining music’s boundaries with his album “Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going.”

Collins Obinna Chibueze, the Nigerian-born American artist known as Shaboozey, has cemented his position as one of 2024’s biggest stars. His hit single, “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” has become a global sensation, amassing 1.004 billion streams on Spotify.

Released on April 12, 2024, as the fourth single from his third studio album, “Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going,” the track has surpassed 1.004 billion streams on Spotify, becoming one of the top 20 most-streamed songs of the year and establishing Shaboozey as a defining voice in contemporary music.

Global chart domination

“A Bar Song (Tipsy),” which tells the story of a working-class protagonist seeking escapism through barroom revelry, has struck a universal chord with listeners worldwide. Its genre-defying appeal has fueled its success across diverse markets, resonating equally with country, hip-hop, and pop audiences.

The single’s widespread popularity is reflected in its chart-topping performance, securing the No. 1 spot in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, and the United States, while also earning top-ten placements in Denmark, Iceland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.

Shaboozey made history as the first Black male artist to top both the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts simultaneously, a feat previously achieved only by Beyoncé with “Texas Hold ‘Em.” He also secured the No. 1 spot on the Country Airplay chart, underscoring his cross-genre success.

RIAA recognition and commercial triumph

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” 5x platinum, signifying over five million certified units in the U.S. alone. The song’s streaming success, coupled with robust digital sales, underscores its popularity and cultural impact.

Shaboozey’s genre-blending style has captivated listeners worldwide, drawing from his roots in hip-hop while seamlessly incorporating country and rock influences. Born in northern Virginia to Nigerian parents, Shaboozey’s artistic versatility reflects his multicultural background, making him a standout voice in an increasingly globalized music industry.

Grammy nod and industry accolades

Shaboozey’s breakout year has put him on the map, earning acclaim and Grammy nods.

His hit single, “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” is up for Song of the Year, Best Country Song, and Best Country Solo Performance at the 67th Grammys. He’s also a top contender for Best New Artist, cementing his status as a rising star.

His album, “Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going,” and its standout single have positioned him as a genre-defying force in music. By blending vivid storytelling with eclectic sounds, Shaboozey is reshaping the boundaries of popular music.

With Grammy glory in sight and a growing global audience, Shaboozey’s ascent highlights music’s power to bridge genres and cultures. His journey is just beginning.
