Here’s a closer look at the African clubs making waves in their preparations for the tournament and the potential they have to redefine their legacy on the global football map.

Al Ahly SC (Egypt)

Al Ahly, often referred to as the “Club of the Century” in Africa, has solidified its dominance by securing multiple CAF Champions League titles in recent years. Their victories in the 2020/21 and 2022/23 editions, along with a strong performance in the 2023/24 tournament, have guaranteed their participation in the 2025 Club World Cup. Espérance Sportive de Tunis (Tunisia)

Espérance de Tunis, one of Tunisia’s most successful clubs, has qualified for the 2025 tournament through the CAF ranking pathway. Their consistent performances in the CAF Champions League over the past four seasons have earned them this opportunity. This marks their fourth appearance in the Club World Cup, reflecting their sustained excellence in African club football.

Mamelodi Sundowns FC (South Africa)

Mamelodi Sundowns, known for their dynamic and attacking style of play, secured their spot in the 2025 Club World Cup via the CAF ranking pathway. Their consistent performances in the CAF Champions League over recent years have been instrumental in their qualification. This will be their second appearance in the tournament, following their debut in 2016.
