Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort, one of Mozambique’s most iconic luxury properties, has completed a comprehensive transformation aimed at redefining barefoot elegance in the Indian Ocean.
The multimillion-dollar upgrade positions the resort among the top luxury island destinations in Africa, as demand surges for sustainable, culturally immersive experiences.
Nestled in the pristine Bazaruto Archipelago National Park, the newly revitalized resort now offers a modernized luxury experience tailored to discerning travelers seeking wellness, culture, and barefoot island elegance.
The upgrade includes full refurbishments of the resort’s signature Beach Villas, Beach Pool Villas, and expansive two-bedroom suites—all now featuring new furnishings, brighter interiors, and upgraded amenities.
From spa serenity to teen gaming zones
Public spaces such as the Anantara Spa, fitness center, and common walkways also received aesthetic enhancements, reflecting a clean, contemporary island-chic style that blends seamlessly with the natural surroundings.
A standout highlight is the full revamp of Spice Spoons, Anantara’s immersive cooking school, which now delivers a more authentic and elevated journey into Mozambican cuisine.
Led by local chefs, the experience weaves together storytelling, technique, and cultural immersion—appealing to food-lovers and adventure-seekers alike.
In response to the growing demand for multigenerational travel across Africa, the resort also unveiled a newly redesigned Kids’ Club and introduced a state-of-the-art games room for older children and teens—strengthening its family-friendly credentials.
“These strategic refurbishments reflect our commitment to delivering world-class, immersive experiences while honoring the cultural and ecological heritage of Bazaruto,” said Nico Vivier, Minor Hotels Regional Director for Africa.
Mozambique’s eco-luxury moment
Looking ahead, Anantara is rolling out additional enhancements including a reimagined welcome lounge in Vilanculos, a refreshed guest arrival zone on the island, and full upgrades of the Golfinho Restaurant and Clube Naval dining venues—positioning the property at the forefront of Mozambique’s luxury hospitality landscape.
Founded in 2001, Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas has grown into a global luxury brand with over 40 destinations across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.
Its African expansion strategy is riding a wave of international interest in eco-tourism, private island retreats, and authentic African luxury experiences.
With Mozambique increasingly on the radar of upscale travelers, Anantara Bazaruto’s relaunch signals a new chapter in sustainable, culturally rich, and family-inclusive luxury travel in Southern Africa.
