Nigeria’s telecoms giant Globacom has partnered with the Ondo state government to expand digital adoption across governance, education, security, and revenue systems.
Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa hosted Globacom’s top executives in Akure, where the deal was unveiled as part of the state’s push for technology-driven administration.
Globacom’s Group Lead for Enterprise Business, Adeniyi Odejobi, said the collaboration will enhance efficiency, cut costs, and improve productivity across government operations.
Aiyedatiwa hailed the initiative as timely, noting that it supports his administration’s ongoing reforms to digitize service delivery.
“Our government is committed to deploying innovative technology to transform governance and improve public service delivery,” Aiyedatiwa said.
“Globacom’s solutions will help reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks, limit human interference, and increase efficiency.”

Ondo accelerates digital transformation with iOndo
The partnership builds on the state’s earlier launch of iOndo, an electronic tax collection platform rolled out three months ago.
The system enables residents to make payments online, from ground rents to other state levies, signaling Ondo’s growing shift toward digital-first services.
Globacom also plans to deploy a Learning Management System (LMS) to improve access to education for secondary and tertiary institutions.
Through Glo Share, its sponsored data initiative, students will enjoy zero-rated access to the LMS, ensuring online learning without data charges.
According to Odejobi, these interventions are designed to empower young people while enhancing transparency in state administration.

Globacom expands reach in telecoms and digital services
Founded in 2003, Globacom has grown into one of Africa’s largest telecommunications operators, with more than 60 million subscribers across Nigeria, Ghana, and Benin Republic, as well as global footprints in the UK, US, China, India and beyond.
The company has consistently rolled out new services, from mobile internet and 4G LTE to cloud offerings and Glo TV.
Its financial inclusion arm, MoneyMaster Payment Service Bank, now deploys over 100,000 agents to serve Nigeria’s unbanked population.
Globacom’s rise has been closely linked to billionaire founder Mike Adenuga, Nigeria’s second-richest man with an estimated fortune of $6.3 billion, who remains an influential force in telecoms, oil, and banking.
His daughter, Bella Disu, Globacom’s Executive Vice-Chair, is increasingly steering the company’s strategic direction and the Adenuga family’s diversified business empire.

As part of its 22nd-anniversary celebrations, the company announced fresh network improvement projects aimed at enhancing user experience and deepening service reliability in Nigeria’s fast-growing telecoms sector.

Driving Nigeria’s digital future
The Ondo-Globacom alliance underscores how state governments and private players are converging to accelerate Nigeria’s digital transformation.
With technology now central to governance and socio-economic development, the deal is expected to boost efficiency in public services while widening access to education and financial systems.
