  • Kapama introduces the Tamboti Superior Suites at River Lodge, opening December 15.
  • Southern Camp to become a villa-only retreat by July 2026, enhancing privacy and exclusivity.
  • The projects strengthen Kapama’s position in South Africa’s high-end safari market, blending luxury with conservation.

South Africa’s Kapama Private Game Reserve is deepening its mark in the country’s high-end safari scene with two major developments — the debut of the Tamboti Superior Suites at Kapama River Lodge and the reimagining of Kapama Southern Camp into an exclusive, villa-only retreat.

Set in the heart of the Greater Kruger region, Kapama has long been known for combining conservation and luxury in one seamless experience.

Now, the family-owned reserve is taking another step forward, investing in design and hospitality concepts that prioritize space, privacy, and connection to nature.

It’s a move that mirrors the growing demand for meaningful, personalized travel experiences across Africa’s luxury safari market.

These upgrades arrive at a time when South Africa’s top lodges are redefining what premium travel looks like — moving away from traditional game drives alone to curated stays that blend sustainability, comfort, and cultural depth.

Kapama’s new developments position it at the forefront of this evolution, balancing modern design with its deep-rooted conservation ethos.

The Tamboti Superior Suites, designed with sleek, contemporary interiors and wide bushveld views

New Tamboti superior suites set for December launch

The Tamboti Superior Suites, scheduled to open on December 15, mark a fresh chapter for Kapama River Lodge.

Designed with sleek, contemporary interiors and wide bushveld views, the suites aim to connect guests to the landscape while offering a sense of refined calm.

Select suites feature interleading layouts tailored for couples, families, and multi-generational travelers — a segment that’s steadily growing in Africa’s luxury tourism space.

As part of this upgrade, Kapama is also redesigning its existing Spa Suites to match the new look, while Family Spa Suites will make way for the interleading Tamboti Superior Suites.

The Courtyard Suites will be repurposed for on-site guides, enhancing operational flow and ensuring a seamless guest experience.

Southern camp transforms into villa-only escape

Further south, Kapama Southern Camp is undergoing a complete transformation.

By July 2026, it will evolve from its current mix of suites and villas into a fully villa-only sanctuary, creating a more private and personalized atmosphere.

The change reflects Kapama’s broader strategy: to deliver exclusivity and comfort while maintaining the essence of a true African safari.

With these developments, Kapama Private Game Reserve is reinforcing its position as one of South Africa’s premier luxury destinations — where world-class design meets the wild heart of the bushveld.
