IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement to open a 140-room Hotel Indigo in Cairo’s New Administrative Capital, with completion targeted for 2033.

The property will form part of a mixed-use development in the fast-growing city east of Cairo. The New Administrative Capital is being built to house key government ministries, diplomatic missions and financial institutions, easing pressure on Cairo while creating a new business district.

IHG said the hotel is designed to serve both corporate and leisure travelers, reflecting rising demand for internationally branded accommodation in the emerging hub.

Hotel Indigo blends culture, modern style

The New Administrative Capital is planned as a combined government, residential and commercial center, supported by new highways and rail links connecting it to Greater Cairo.

Developers say the aim is to create a self-contained urban district with offices, homes, retail and public spaces.

Hotel Indigo Cairo New Administrative Capital will sit within that broader scheme. IHG said the hotel’s design will draw on local architecture and culture, in keeping with the Indigo brand’s neighborhood-focused approach.

Public areas and guest rooms are expected to reflect elements of Egyptian heritage while maintaining the brand’s contemporary style.

The company said the property will cater to diplomats, business executives and visitors looking to explore nearby cultural landmarks.

Partnership with JADEER GROUP

IHG signed the agreement with JADEER GROUP, marking another collaboration between the two companies. The deal follows a separate hotel announcement in New Cairo, underscoring IHG’s broader push in the Egyptian market.

“IHG sees Egypt as a key market,” said Haitham Mattar, MD for India, Middle East & Africa. “The New Capital is a growing business hub, and Hotel Indigo offers a lifestyle experience for business and leisure travelers.”

Mahmoud Abou Al Khair, JADEER GROUP chairman, added, “Partnering with IHG reinforces our vision for distinctive, mixed-use destinations that blend design, culture, and local storytelling.”

IHG to add 23 Egypt hotels

IHG currently operates nine hotels across Egypt under brands including InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Staybridge Suites.

The group plans to open 23 additional properties in the coming years, representing one of its largest country expansions in the region.

Planned openings in the New Administrative Capital include InterContinental, Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza hotels, which would give IHG a multi-brand presence in the district.

By adding Hotel Indigo to the pipeline, IHG is positioning itself to capture early demand in a city that officials hope will redefine Egypt’s administrative and business landscape.

For travelers, the project signals a broader shift: as the New Administrative Capital rises, so too does the range of global hotel brands setting up for the long term.
