Morocco’s agri-food sector is attracting renewed investor attention, with fresh capital flowing into businesses linked to food security, processing and regional trade.

The latest deal highlights how the North African economy is building its position in agro-industry as demand for locally produced and processed food rises across the continent.

This shift is supported by government policy, steady domestic consumption and growing export opportunities.

Investors are focusing on companies that can connect farming to processing and distribution, helping close long-standing gaps in Africa’s food supply chain.

In that context, Africa Feed & Food (AFF) has secured MAD 850 million ($91.25 million) in new funding, a move that reflects confidence in Morocco’s agri-food industry.

The investment brings together RNAF III, managed by RMBV, alongside Proparco, pointing to continued institutional interest in the sector.

Expanding industrial capacity

AFF operates across the full agri-food value chain, from sourcing raw materials to producing finished goods.

The group said the new funds will be used to strengthen its industrial base in Morocco, with a focus on expanding capacity and improving efficiency.

The company added that the investment will support upgrades to facilities and help increase output in its core business areas.

That approach fits with Morocco’s broader plan to improve productivity and strengthen local food production.

Focus on value addition

The investment also reflects a wider shift in Morocco’s agricultural policy, where more emphasis is being placed on processing rather than raw exports.

By building stronger local industries, companies like AFF are helping reduce import dependence while creating products that can compete in export markets.

AFF strengthens local industries, cuts import reliance, and boosts export-ready products.

Growing regional footprint

Beyond Morocco, AFF is stepping up its presence in Sub-Saharan Africa, with operations already in Mali, Mauritania and Senegal.

The expansion aligns with Morocco’s efforts to deepen trade links across the region and support the growth of its companies beyond national borders.

As investment continues to flow into the sector, Morocco is strengthening its role in Africa’s food industry, supported by its location, infrastructure and growing base of agro-industrial companies.
