Prestige Denim Mills, a major Indian textile manufacturer, is expanding its footprint in Africa with a $20 million investment in Egypt, underscoring the growing appeal of the North African nation as a manufacturing and export hub for global textile companies.

The company signed an agreement with the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) to establish a denim fabric production facility in the West Qantara Industrial Zone, a project expected to strengthen Egypt’s position in the international textile value chain.

The integrated manufacturing complex will cover 100,000 square meters and generate approximately 1,000 direct jobs. Once operational, the facility is expected to produce 20 million meters of denim fabric annually, with 70% of output destined for export markets and the remaining 30% serving domestic demand.

Egypt strengthens its textile investment appeal

SCZONE Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dien described the investment as the first Indian project in the industrial zone, highlighting growing international confidence in Egypt’s economic reforms and industrial infrastructure.

The development aligns with Egypt’s strategy to deepen local manufacturing, increase industrial localization and boost export competitiveness. Authorities have positioned the Suez Canal Economic Zone as a strategic destination for textile and ready-made garment investments, supported by upgraded infrastructure and access to global shipping routes.

Established in 2015, the Suez Canal Economic Zone spans more than 461 square kilometers along both sides of the canal and has become one of Egypt’s key platforms for attracting foreign direct investment across manufacturing and logistics sectors.

Prestige Denim builds on India’s global textile leadership

Prestige Denim Mills has become a notable player in India’s fast-growing textile sector, supplying denim fabrics to domestic and international apparel markets. The company operates within one of the world’s largest textile manufacturing ecosystems, where denim remains a major export product.

India is among the largest global producers of denim fabric, serving apparel brands and retailers across North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. The country’s manufacturers have invested heavily in advanced weaving, dyeing and finishing technologies to meet rising global demand for high-quality denim products.

For Prestige Denim, the Egypt project represents more than a capacity expansion. It is a strategic move to access African, European and Middle Eastern markets from one of the region’s fastest-growing industrial and export platforms.
