Egypt’s digital infrastructure push is gaining momentum as Hassan Allam Digital Infrastructure and Data Center Solutions plans a $400 million data center in Egypt following approval to enter the cloud computing market.

The license, granted by the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA), allows the company to build and operate data centers and deliver cloud services. The investment marks one of the largest recent commitments to Egypt’s growing data infrastructure sector.

Egypt expands cloud and data center market

The $400 million project will be developed in phases, with the first stage focused on building a state-of-the-art facility aligned with international standards. The infrastructure is designed to support rising demand for cloud computing, artificial intelligence workloads, and secure data hosting.

The facility will serve government agencies, financial institutions, multinational corporations, and domestic enterprises as demand for digital services accelerates across Africa and the Middle East.

Rising demand drives digital infrastructure investment

Demand for cloud platforms, AI deployment, and cybersecurity solutions is increasing rapidly across regional markets. As data volumes grow and regulatory requirements tighten, countries are prioritizing local data hosting capacity.

Egypt is positioning digital infrastructure as a long-term growth pillar alongside telecommunications and technology services, aiming to attract global investment.

Egypt targets regional digital hub status

Egypt’s strategic location linking Africa, Europe, and the Middle East strengthens its position as a regional data hub. Expanding local data center capacity could reduce reliance on overseas hosting while improving service reliability and digital sovereignty.

The investment is expected to support government digital services, enhance financial sector operations, and attract international technology companies seeking regional deployment hubs.

Strategic partnership accelerates rollout

The project is being developed in partnership with A15, combining infrastructure expertise with digital operations capabilities. The collaboration is designed to accelerate deployment while delivering enterprise-grade cloud and hosting services.

Egyptian authorities are also preparing a national strategy for data centers and cloud computing to improve regulatory clarity and attract further investment.

Outlook for Egypt’s data center market

Investor activity in Egypt’s digital infrastructure sector has increased in recent years, with multiple licenses issued for data center development. The trend reflects broader regional competition to support AI workloads and enterprise cloud migration.

The rollout of Egypt’s national data center strategy is expected to be the next key catalyst, as demand for digital infrastructure continues to expand.
