A stay at Zannier Sonop in Namibia offers a paired experience with Zannier Omaanda, designed for travelers seeking time away from busy routines and into the country’s wide-open landscapes. The package includes 10% off room rates at both properties when guests book a minimum of three consecutive nights at Sonop and two nights at Omaanda within a 14-day period.

The idea is simple: slow down and experience two distinct sides of Namibia, from the desert plains of Sonop to wildlife encounters and relaxed evenings at Omaanda. Guests move between both lodges at their own pace, with days shaped by guided excursions, quiet moments, and open skies.

Desert setting and tent suites

Sonop sits across 13,800 acres in the Hardap region of southern Namibia, close to the NamibRand Nature Reserve, a 202,200-hectare private conservation area. The setting is remote, defined by granite outcrops, sand dunes, and long stretches of open desert where movement is rare and silence is constant.

The lodge features 10 tented suites built on granite boulders, designed with a 1920s-inspired colonial style. The concept draws from the era of early British explorers, reflected in vintage furnishings and a pared-back sense of comfort.

One-bedroom tents accommodate up to two adults and one child aged 6 to 12. Each includes a four-poster king-size bed, a sitting area, and a bathroom centered around a bathtub positioned to take in wide desert views. A private wooden terrace extends outside, fitted with a telescope for night sky viewing.

Two-bedroom tents are designed for families or small groups, sleeping up to four adults and two children. These units include separate bedrooms and bathrooms, shared living space, and the same period-inspired design. Like the smaller tents, each bathroom is positioned to maximize views across the desert landscape.

Activities Across Land and Sky

Daily activities at Sonop are built around the landscape. Guests can take guided horse rides, electric fat bike routes, or walking trails through the desert. Hot air balloon safaris and private sunrise or sunset drives offer broader views of the terrain.

As daylight fades, activities continue in quieter form. An open-air cinema is set up under the night sky, followed by stargazing sessions that make use of the region’s clear atmospheric conditions. With little light pollution, the desert sky reveals a dense field of stars visible to the naked eye.

Dining at the lodge ranges from early breakfasts served on sand dunes to multi-course evening meals. Cocktails and shared tables are part of the experience, with guests often exchanging stories from their day in a relaxed setting.

Sustainability and brand approach

Zannier Sonop is Green Globe certified, reflecting its efforts to operate within environmental standards suited to the fragile desert ecosystem.

Across its properties, Zannier Hotels focuses on a design-led approach that combines location, heritage influences and locally rooted experiences, with an emphasis on simplicity and environmental awareness.

The combined Sonop and Omaanda stay is positioned as a way to experience two different sides of Namibia within one itinerary, connected by landscape, wildlife and time spent outdoors rather than rigid schedules.
