Regional Air Services has expanded access to Tanzania’s flagship safari destination after restoring scheduled flights to five Serengeti airstrips in 2026.

The airline has resumed services to Lobo, Grumeti, Sasakwa, Fort Ikoma and Lamai, reconnecting the northern, western and central parts of the Serengeti ecosystem. Together with its existing routes to Seronera and Ndutu, the expanded network gives travelers, tour operators and safari planners access to one of the country’s most extensive scheduled flight networks within the national park.

For visitors exploring Tanzania’s northern safari circuit, the restored services make it easier to travel between key wildlife destinations using a single airline.

Since launching operations in 1997, Regional Air has focused on linking travelers with Northern Tanzania’s leading safari destinations through scheduled bush flights built around safety, reliability and consistent service.

Tarime connects Maasai Mara access

Regional Air also operates scheduled flights to Tarime, providing onward access to the Maasai Mara in Kenya, the northern extension of the Serengeti ecosystem and one of Africa’s best-known wildlife destinations.

The broader network comes as Tanzania’s tourism industry continues to expand. The country welcomed 5.94 million visitors in 2025, up 10.7% from 5.36 million in 2024. Improved air connectivity across the northern safari circuit is expected to support that growth by making travel between key destinations more efficient and encouraging visitors to spend more time exploring the country.

Regional Air East Africa network

In addition to its Serengeti operations, Regional Air serves Lake Manyara, Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar and other destinations across Northern Tanzania.
