Shearzone Safaris, a Zambian-owned tourism company, has officially opened Nzovu Rundu Luxury Camp in Zambia’s Lower Zambezi National Park, marking the company’s second luxury safari property and expanding its investment in sustainable tourism and conservation.

The camp was inaugurated on July 17 by Evans Muhanga, Permanent Secretary at Zambia’s Ministry of Tourism, during a ceremony attended by Her Royal Highness Chieftainess Chiawa, senior government officials, tourism industry representatives, conservation partners and invited guests.

The opening follows the launch of Mozhi Bush Camp in Kafue National Park and forms part of Shearzone Safaris’ broader expansion plans, which include future developments in North and South Luangwa national parks.

Investment in tourism and communities

Caleb Mulenga, board chairman of Shearzone Safaris, said the new camp reflects the company’s long-term commitment to Zambia’s tourism industry.

“Nzovu Rundu is more than a luxury safari camp; it is our investment in Zambia’s future, creating opportunities for communities while showcasing the very best of our country’s natural heritage,” Mulenga said.

Muhanga said the project demonstrates growing investor confidence in Zambia’s tourism sector and highlighted its contribution to economic growth through private sector investment.

Chieftainess Chiawa welcomed the development, saying investments that strengthen conservation, create jobs and support local communities are essential to the region’s long-term prosperity.

Shearzone Safaris said it remains focused on developing world-class safari experiences while supporting wildlife conservation, community development and the continued growth of the country’s tourism industry.

Luxury in the heart of the Lower Zambezi

Set along the private shores of the Nkalange Channel, Nzovu Rundu Luxury Camp is designed to blend naturally into the surrounding wilderness while offering guests a secluded safari experience.

The property overlooks the Zambezi River, with Nkalange Island to the south, the Zambezi Escarpment rising behind the camp and Chilapila Peak visible to the west. Its location provides guests with a quiet retreat surrounded by some of Africa’s richest wildlife habitats.

The camp combines luxury accommodation with professionally guided game drives, river excursions and close wildlife encounters, giving visitors an intimate way to experience the Lower Zambezi.

Accommodation includes eight Luxury Pods and two Rundu Grand Pods, each designed to maximize privacy and uninterrupted views of the landscape.
