Amani Collections, a family-owned safari lodge and hospitality group in Tanzania, has opened Amani Lamai Luxury Camp, a new luxury safari destination in the Northern Serengeti designed to give guests close access to one of Africa’s most spectacular wildlife events, the Great Migration.

The camp is located less than one kilometre from the Mara River Crossing No. 4, one of the most recognised locations for witnessing the annual movement of wildebeest and zebra between Tanzania and Kenya.

Between July and October, hundreds of thousands of animals make the dangerous journey across crocodile-filled waters, with August and September considered among the best periods to experience the dramatic river crossings.

Luxury meets Serengeti wilderness

Amani Collections said the new property reflects its focus on creating intimate hospitality experiences that connect travellers with Tanzania’s landscapes, wildlife and culture.

The group’s portfolio spans some of the country’s most celebrated destinations, from the coffee estates of Arusha and the Ngorongoro Crater to the open plains of the Serengeti, with each property offering guests a different perspective of Tanzania’s natural heritage.

Luxury accommodation in the heart of the Serengeti

Amani Lamai Luxury Camp features eight tented suites, including six double-occupancy tents and two family tents.

Each suite includes refined interiors, a private outdoor shower, deep soaking bathtub and a fireplace designed for evenings beneath the African sky.

The property also offers two dining venues, a spa and gym, while its location near Lamai Airstrip and Kogatende Airstrip allows easy access for fly-in safari itineraries.

The opening comes as luxury safari operators continue to invest in high-end experiences across East Africa, driven by growing demand from international travellers seeking exclusive wildlife and nature-based holidays.

Amani Collections expands Serengeti portfolio

Amani Collections is preparing to open two additional Serengeti properties in September as part of its wider expansion plans.

Amani Lobo Luxury Camp, located on the Lobo Hills, will feature five luxury tents, two restaurants, two bars, a shared swimming pool, spa and gym, alongside sweeping views of the Serengeti wilderness.

The company will also launch Amani Lobo Luxury Lodge, offering six two-bedroom villas and one one-bedroom villa. The villas will include private lounges, bars, dining areas, swimming pools, outdoor showers and deep soaking baths. The lodge will also feature two restaurants, a wine cellar, spa and fitness centre.

A Family-led hospitality expansion

Founded by Edward and Lilian Mrosso following their early retirement, with support from his brothers Charles and Samwel Mrosso, Amani Collections operates a portfolio of luxury lodges, safari camps and restaurants across Tanzania’s Northern Safari Circuit.

The group’s properties include Amani Safari Lodge, Amani Farmhouse, Eserian Ngorongoro, Lobo Lodge, Lamai Luxury Camp and Olduvai Restaurant.

The Amani brand was created around the founders’ vision of building peaceful retreats where guests can experience Tanzania’s landscapes, wildlife and hospitality.
