Cregis, Chinese digital asset infrastructure provider, is expanding into Africa, betting that rising demand for stablecoins, cross-border payments and enterprise blockchain solutions will fuel the next phase of the continent’s digital finance growth.

The company said it has already secured enterprise clients in Africa and is increasing its commercial presence in Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa—three of the continent’s largest digital asset markets. Cregis will provide technology that enables businesses to securely manage cryptocurrency assets, digital wallets and blockchain-based payment operations.

Africa’s crypto economy gathers pace

Africa has become one of the world’s fastest-growing digital asset markets as businesses increasingly adopt stablecoins for international payments, remittances and treasury management.

Sub-Saharan Africa processed more than $205 billion in on-chain transaction value between July 2024 and June 2025, representing 52% annual growth. The expansion has been driven by growing demand for faster cross-border transactions, lower payment costs and wider adoption of digital financial services.

Cregis said it is partnering with stablecoin payment companies, cryptocurrency exchanges, over-the-counter trading firms and digital banks seeking enterprise-grade infrastructure to scale their operations securely.

Building secure blockchain infrastructure

Founder and Chief Executive Officer Shawn Yan said Africa is reaching a stage where growing adoption is creating demand for secure, compliant and scalable digital asset infrastructure.

Having expanded across Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East, the company believes Africa is entering a similar growth cycle. Cregis established its Dubai regional hub in 2024 and has supported more than 200 enterprise deployments across the Middle East.

Founded in 2017, Cregis provides Wallet-as-a-Service (WaaS) technology that allows banks, fintech companies and cryptocurrency exchanges to launch digital asset services without building blockchain infrastructure from scratch.

The platform supports more than 40 blockchain networks, manages over 100 million wallet addresses, and uses distributed key generation technology to reduce security risks. The company also holds ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II certifications, positioning itself as a provider of enterprise-grade blockchain infrastructure as Africa’s digital economy continues to expand.
