Kenyan grain processor Bakex Millers Ltd is expanding its flour business as demand for wheat-based products grows among households, bakeries and food manufacturers across the country.

The company, a unit of Broadways Group of Companies, is widening the retail presence of its Phulka flour brand, adding more options for consumers looking for quality wheat products for traditional meals and everyday baking.

Bakex Millers showcased its expanded product range at the 11th edition of AFMASS FOOD EXPO held in Nairobi from July 15 to July 17, highlighting its focus on serving Kenya’s growing market for baking ingredients.

The company’s latest offerings include whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour and specialized bakery products designed for making chapati, roti, bread, cakes and other popular foods.

Bakex expands Phulka flour range for households and businesses

One of Bakex Millers’ key products is Phulka Atta Mark 1, a 100% whole wheat flour produced from its specialized Atta Mill.

The company says the flour is designed to deliver soft chapatis with a traditional whole wheat taste, strong dough handling and consistent quality.

The product is available in 1kg, 2kg and 5kg packs for retail customers, while larger 5kg and 10kg packages target households and commercial users seeking premium flour options made from high-grade wheat.

Bakex Millers has also strengthened its all-purpose flour category with Phulka All Purpose Flour, which is suitable for home baking needs including pancakes, cakes and flatbreads.

The company’s Ungano All Purpose Flour uses modern milling technology and is designed to offer high water absorption and improved yield.

It is used for products such as doughnuts, biscuits, mandazis, chapati and naan, making it a flexible choice for both small businesses and home bakers.

Bakex’s bakery range also includes White Bakers Flour and Whole Meal Bakers Flour.

The products are made from hard wheat grist and are designed to support better dough elasticity, bread volume and texture.
