Canadian-listed Ongwe Minerals is accelerating exploration at its Nguni gold prospect in Namibia after defining a continuous 6-kilometer gold-in-soil anomaly, marking a major step toward what could become one of the country’s most significant new gold discoveries.

The company identified more than 50 high-grade soil samples exceeding 300 parts per billion gold, with peak values reaching 1,310 ppb. These results strengthen confidence in the scale and quality of mineralization and position Nguni as a high-priority drilling target within Namibia’s emerging Northwest Damara Gold Belt.

The discovery lies along the prolific Okondeka Fault Zone, which hosts major deposits including Kokoseb and nearby Manga. Geological similarities to these established assets further enhance Nguni’s exploration potential.

Large-scale gold target takes shape

Ongwe Minerals completed a 50-by-50-meter infill soil sampling program across the accessible portion of the Nguni prospect, collecting 1,605 samples. Results outlined a continuous mineralized corridor stretching approximately 6 kilometers above the 50 ppb threshold.

Importantly, the anomaly remains open to the north, east, and west, indicating strong expansion potential beyond current survey boundaries. The highest-grade zones were recorded at both ends of the surveyed area, suggesting multiple high-priority targets for drilling.

Geological mapping shows that mineralization is hosted within metasedimentary rocks near granitic contact zones, closely resembling the geological setting of Namibia’s Kokoseb gold deposit.

Maiden drilling campaign to begin

Ongwe Minerals plans to launch its first drilling campaign at Nguni later this month, beginning with a 5,000-meter diamond drilling program focused on the most prospective zones identified through soil sampling.

The company will initially deploy a single drill rig, with plans to expand operations as geological understanding improves. Diamond drilling has been selected to provide more detailed structural data in areas with limited bedrock exposure.

Management says the latest results confirm Nguni as a robust, large-scale exploration target with strong upside potential.

Regional exploration momentum builds

Beyond Nguni, Ongwe continues to advance exploration across its Namibian portfolio. At the Belmont prospect within the Khorixas Gold Project, reverse circulation drilling has been completed, with assay results pending.

At the Manga Gold Discovery, bedrock sampling has been finalized, and preliminary analysis suggests the mineralized system remains open, supporting further exploration.

The company is also conducting regional soil sampling along the Okondeka Fault Zone, where more than 80 kilometers of prospective strike length remains largely unexplored.

Positioned for Namibia’s next gold discovery

Discovered in May 2026, Nguni is located approximately 17 kilometers east of the Manga discovery and 55 kilometers from the Kokoseb deposit. Its strategic location within a proven mineralized corridor enhances its potential to evolve into a major gold system.

Ongwe Minerals controls three flagship projects across the Northwest Damara Gold Belt and is advancing regulatory approvals for its exploration license covering Nguni.

With a management team experienced in developing notable Namibian gold assets, the company is aiming to replicate past successes as it moves Nguni toward a potential large-scale discovery.
