The Wolwedans Collection has unveiled a refreshed look across Desert Lodge, Dune Camp and Mountain View Suite in Namibia’s NamibRand Nature Reserve, drawing on the colors, textures and character of the desert around them.

The redesign, shaped with the property’s on-site team and local artisans, brings natural earth tones, raw textures and handcrafted furnishings into the guest spaces. The changes also extend to dining, guest experiences and the collection’s visual identity.

Desert Lodge gets a full refresh

At Desert Lodge, the update covers the main areas, six tented rooms and three tented family rooms, with new furnishings and handcrafted details designed to sit naturally within the lodge’s dune-top setting.

New wooden walkways now link each room to the main area. All rooms have been updated with king/twin bed configurations, while the family rooms now include two additional single beds for children ages 5 to 14.

The lodge has also added a new guide tent, while Wi-Fi is now available in the main area and all rooms.

Dune Camp embraces desert textures

Dune Camp has received a similar treatment, with its main area, six tented rooms and family suite updated with natural materials, handcrafted furnishings and warm, earthy tones.

New wooden walkways connect the rooms to the main area, while each room now features a daybed that can be converted into a Starbed for overnight stays beneath the desert sky.

Two new guide tents have also been added, along with Wi-Fi throughout the camp.

Mountain View Suite, an exclusive-use retreat for two, has been refreshed with the same emphasis on craftsmanship and natural materials. The suite offers sweeping desert views and comes with a private chef and guide.

A new chapter for Wolwedans

The refresh follows the appointment of Selma Simaneka Benyameni as executive hospitality manager. She oversees the hospitality vision and guest experience across the collection.

“Of the Earth is more than a design language; it is a way of making sure our guests feel the desert the moment they arrive,” Benyameni said. “Every texture, every tone, every handcrafted detail is there to deepen that sense of place.”

The redesign is part of Wolwedans’ broader effort to improve the guest experience while staying close to its conservation and sustainability principles.

NamibRand remains central to Wolwedans

The NamibRand Nature Reserve covers more than 215,000 hectares in southwestern Namibia. Established in 1981 through the consolidation of former livestock farms, the private conservation area is known for its red dunes, mountain landscapes and exceptionally dark skies.

Wolwedans was founded in 1994 and operates a collection of low-impact luxury camps and lodges within the reserve. Its properties include Desert Lodge, Dune Camp, Boulders Camp, Plains Camp and Mountain View Suite, with conservation and responsible tourism at the heart of its operations.
