Akdital raises 130 million hospital expansion

Akdital Group, one of Morocco’s largest private healthcare providers, has sold a 15% stake in its Saudi-based unit to Arab Invest, unlocking fresh capital to accelerate hospital expansion in Saudi Arabia.

The deal positions the Moroccan healthcare group to scale operations in one of the region’s fastest-growing healthcare markets, combining its hospital development expertise with Arab Invest’s financial strength and regional network.

With demand for quality medical services rising across the Gulf, the partnership marks a strategic move to deepen its footprint in Saudi Arabia while advancing its ambition to build a leading regional healthcare platform.

Akdital expands footprint in Saudi Arabia

The transaction centers on Akdital’s Riyadh-based international holding company, which serves as the vehicle for its Middle East expansion. By bringing in Arab Invest as a strategic partner, the group gains access to capital and regional connectivity needed to scale faster in Saudi Arabia.

The Kingdom has emerged as a key growth market, driven by population expansion, healthcare reform, and increasing private sector participation. Akdital is positioning itself to capture this demand by building and operating modern hospital infrastructure across major cities.

Arab Invest backs healthcare infrastructure growth

Arab Invest, a multilateral investment institution owned by 16 Arab countries, is supporting Akdital’s expansion through long-term capital deployment into healthcare infrastructure.

The partnership reflects growing investor appetite for healthcare assets in the Middle East, particularly in markets undergoing structural transformation. By aligning with Akdital, Arab Invest is targeting both financial returns and broader social impact through improved access to healthcare services.

Four hospital projects underway in Kingdom

Akdital’s Saudi expansion strategy is already in motion, with four hospital projects currently under development, including two facilities in Riyadh, one project in Mecca and one project in Jeddah.

These locations position the group in some of Saudi Arabia’s most strategically important healthcare markets, enabling it to capture demand in both urban and religious hub centers.

The expansion pipeline is expected to significantly increase capacity while strengthening Akdital’s presence across the Kingdom.

Strong financial growth fuels expansion strategy

Akdital’s international push follows a year of strong domestic performance. In 2025, the group expanded its footprint across Morocco, launching eight new healthcare facilities in cities including Guelmim, Laâyoune, Nador, Oujda, and Rabat.

The company now operates 45 facilities across 26 cities, with a total capacity of 4,505 beds. Approximately two-thirds of its investments have been directed outside the Casablanca-Rabat corridor, reflecting a strategy to decentralize healthcare access.

Operationally, Akdital treated 566,077 patients in 2025, representing an approximately 60% increase year-on-year. Financial performance also strengthened, with revenue rising to about MAD4.41 billion ($472.32 million) and EBITDA reaching roughly MAD1.21 billion ($129.59 million).

The group employs nearly 10,000 people and collaborates with more than 4,000 partner doctors, reinforcing its position as one of Morocco’s leading private healthcare providers.

Building a regional healthcare platform

Executives from both organizations described the deal as a strategic milestone. Arab Invest emphasized its commitment to supporting high-impact sectors, while Akdital highlighted the partnership’s role in accelerating growth in Saudi Arabia and beyond.

With fresh capital, a proven domestic model, and a growing project pipeline, Akdital is positioning itself as a rising regional healthcare platform, leveraging scale, partnerships, and strategic investments to meet the Middle East’s increasing demand for quality medical services.
