Elsewedy Industrial Development, a subsidiary of multinational cable and electrical equipment manufacturer Elsewedy Electric, led by Egypt’s El-Sewedy family, has inked a $350 million investment to develop an integrated textile manufacturing complex in Egypt, strengthening the country’s position as a rising hub for industrial production and export-oriented manufacturing.

The landmark deal, signed with Crystal International Group Limited, one of the world’s leading textile manufacturers, will see the establishment of a large-scale facility at Industria October Industrial City in New October City.

Integrated textile complex to boost industrial capacity
The signing was witnessed by Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry, Kamel El-Wazir, underscoring the project’s strategic importance to the country’s industrial growth agenda.

The project will be developed across 800,000 square meters, making it one of the largest textile investments in the region. The facility is designed as a fully integrated production hub, covering the entire textile value chain, from spinning natural and synthetic fibers to yarn production, weaving, dyeing, finishing, and advanced textile processing.

By consolidating operations within a single industrial ecosystem, the development is expected to improve production efficiency, reduce operational waste, and enhance the global competitiveness of Egyptian textile exports. The project will also incorporate sustainability-focused practices aimed at improving resource efficiency and environmental performance.

Investment to create jobs and strengthen manufacturing base
The textile complex is projected to generate approximately 20,000 direct jobs, supporting Egypt’s efforts to expand employment opportunities while building specialized industrial capabilities in a key economic sector.

Elsewedy Industrial Development’s CEO, Mohamed AlKammah, noted that the project reflects increasing global investor confidence in Egypt’s industrial landscape and its capacity to host large-scale manufacturing operations. He added that the company’s integrated industrial platforms continue to attract high-value investments that strengthen the country’s production base and support export-driven growth.

Elsewedy’s expanding legacy in Egypt’s industrial ecosystem development

Founded in 1938, Elsewedy Electric remains under the control of the El-Sewedy family, which holds a 68.1-percent stake. Led by Ahmed El-Sewedy, the family has built the company into a dominant force in the electrical equipment manufacturing industry, contributing to major energy projects across the Middle East and North Africa.

The agreement reinforces Elsewedy Industrial Development’s role in building advanced industrial ecosystems that enable global manufacturers to establish, operate, and scale efficiently within Egypt.

As countries across emerging markets compete to attract manufacturing investments, Egypt is positioning itself as a regional hub for high-value industries, supported by infrastructure development, policy reforms, and strategic partnerships. The new textile complex is expected to accelerate this momentum, driving growth across the manufacturing sector while enhancing the country’s export competitiveness.
