Pearl Global Industries, a multinational cloth manufacturing company,is evaluating manufacturing opportunities in North Africa and Jordan as the Zara clothing supplier seeks to move production closer to European customers and reduce its reliance on the U.S. market.

The potential expansion comes as Indian garment manufacturers respond to stronger European demand, changing U.S. trade policies and disruptions to global shipping routes linked to tensions in the Middle East.

“We are again evaluating things,” Managing Director Pallab Banerjee said, adding that Pearl could pursue partnerships closer to Europe. The company supplies apparel to major brands including Zara, Levi’s and Gap.

Pearl global shifts its manufacturing footprint

Pearl Global has already expanded its international manufacturing network beyond India, with operations in Bangladesh, Vietnam, Indonesia and Guatemala. Banerjee said the company established its Guatemala operations after the COVID-19 pandemic to better serve U.S. customers.

The strategy is now shifting toward Europe. The U.S. remains Pearl Global’s largest market, but its share of group revenue has fallen to about 50% from more than 85% in fiscal 2021 as the company expands across Spain, Britain, Japan and Australia. The European Union accounted for 16%-17% of group revenue in fiscal 2026.

For African markets, the move could strengthen North Africa’s role as a manufacturing base serving European fashion companies, particularly because of its proximity to major European consumer markets.

Founded by Deepak Kumar Seth in 1987, Pearl Global Industries is a multinational apparel manufacturer providing end-to-end supply-chain solutions to global fashion brands, Supplies major global fashion retailers and brands such as Gap, Zara (Inditex), Kohl’s, Ralph Lauren, and Tommy Hilfiger (PVH).

Pearl Global’s existing capacity generates annual turnover of more than $565 million, with more than 25 garment manufacturing units and a workforce of more than 30,000 employees. It is also among the apparel companies listed on Indian stock exchanges.
