Ivan Philip Dittrich, chief financial officer and executive director of South African technology group Datatec, received $3.76 million in total compensation for the year ended Feb. 28, 2026, as stronger earnings drove a sharp increase in performance-linked pay. His package rose 54.6% from $2.34 million a year earlier.

Dittrich’s 2026 package included a $590,000 base salary and an $830,000 short-term incentive. He also received a $2.19 million long-term incentive award, reflecting the company’s performance and its executive compensation structure. The figures underscore the growing role of variable pay in Datatec’s remuneration of senior executives.

Earnings lift executive pay

Datatec reported profit of $108.73 million for fiscal 2026, up 56.94% from $69.28 million a year earlier, while revenue increased to $3.67 billion from $3.55 billion. Gross profit rose to $997.8 million from $910.32 million, helped by demand for cybersecurity, network upgrades and artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Software and services generated about 71% of gross income, highlighting the contribution of higher-value technology offerings across Datatec’s international operations. The company’s total assets increased 16.91% to $4.65 billion from $3.97 billion, while total equity reached $618.48 million during the year.

A global technology group

Founded in 1986 by Jens Montanana, Datatec operates in more than 50 countries across Africa, North America, South America, Europe and Asia-Pacific. Its businesses include Westcon International, a technology distributor, and Logicalis International and Logicalis Latin America, which provide technology integration and managed services.

Datatec also announced a R7.053 billion ($435 million) dividend distribution, with cash payments and scrip distribution shares scheduled for Oct. 19, 2026. The distribution followed a $400 million refinancing and minority investment transaction involving General Atlantic, which reshaped the ownership structure of Westcon International.

Dittrich returns to Datatec

Dittrich returned to Datatec on May 30, 2016, after serving as Vodacom Group CFO from June 2012 to July 2015. Before that, he spent 13 years in senior executive positions at Datatec, including group CFO from May 2008 to June 2012, giving him extensive experience across the technology and telecommunications sectors.

Since returning as group CFO, Dittrich has overseen finance, risk and control functions as part of Datatec’s senior leadership team. His tenure has included periods of expansion, restructuring and changes in the group’s portfolio, while the company has continued to build its international technology distribution and services businesses.

Dittrich owns 1,549,212 Datatec ordinary shares, representing a 0.65% stake in the company. Based on the stated valuation, his holding is worth about R124.17 million ($7.61 million), adding a substantial equity interest to his executive compensation.
