South African chemicals and energy giant Sasol has appointed Mametja Moshe, founder and CEO of Moshe Capital, as an independent non-executive director and member of its Audit Committee, effective October 1, 2026.

According to Sasol’s announcement, Moshe’s appointment strengthens the company’s board with more than two decades of experience spanning corporate finance, capital markets, accounting, auditing, taxation and strategy.

Mametja Moshe brings 23 years of financial experience

Mametja Moshe is a Chartered Accountant (SA) and founded Moshe Capital, a South African advisory and investment firm. Before establishing the company, she worked in investment banking at Morgan Stanley and UBS AG and began her career at KPMG.

Her experience includes corporate finance, equity and debt capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, accounting, auditing, corporate tax and strategy.

Mametja Moshe’s career has included advising on transactions across African markets. Prior to founding Moshe Capital, Mametja Moshe worked at Identity Capital Partners, a South African investment group, as an executive in finance, and senior associate in the investments team.

Mametja Moshe spent over four years in banking at Morgan Stanley from 2007 to 2010, where she covered South African, Zambian and Nigerian mergers & acquisitions and equity capital markets. Mametja Moshe also worked in the UBS AG corporate finance team where she covered South African mergers & acquisitions. During this period in banking she led teams in the execution of transactions worth over $5 billion.

Mametja Moshe joins Sasol board amid governance changes

At Sasol, Mametja Moshe will serve as an independent non-executive director and Audit Committee member. The company said its board had determined that she meets the independence requirements applicable in South Africa and the United States and had completed a fit-and-proper assessment.

Her appointment follows the recent departure of Rhidwaan Gasant, who resigned as a non-executive director on September 25, 2026, citing personal reasons. Gasant also stepped down from Sasol’s Audit and Remuneration committees.

Mametja Moshe already holds independent non-executive directorships at Harmony Gold Mining Company and Impala Platinum Holdings, where she serves on board committees including audit and risk committees, according to Sasol.

Sasol strengthens financial oversight

Sasol Chairman Muriel Dube said Moshe’s appointment would strengthen the board’s collective skills and experience while enhancing the Audit Committee’s oversight capabilities.

The appointment comes as Sasol continues executing its strategy following a stronger FY2026 performance. The company reported that improved operations, cost management and disciplined capital allocation supported stronger earnings and balance-sheet strengthening in the year ended June 30, 2026.

Sasol, listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and New York Stock Exchange, remains one of South Africa’s largest integrated chemicals and energy companies, with its operations spanning fuels, chemicals and related products.
