ReconAfrica targets next phase of African exploration

ReconAfrica said Ryan Kubik’s experience in capital allocation, corporate finance, governance and strategic execution will complement the technical, operational and stakeholder expertise already represented on its board.

The company is currently advancing the Kavango discovery in Namibia while progressing opportunities in Angola and Gabon. “Disciplined capital allocation, strong governance and thoughtful strategic decision-making will continue to be increasingly important,” said Diana McQueen, chair of ReconAfrica’s board.

Ryan Kubik said he was joining the company at an important stage of its development, adding that he looked forward to supporting its strategy with a focus on investment, governance and long-term shareholder value.

ReconAfrica holds large African exploration portfolio

ReconAfrica is exploring the Damara Fold Belt and Kavango Rift Basin across northeastern Namibia, southeastern Angola and northwestern Botswana, where it holds petroleum licences and access to approximately 13 million contiguous acres.

The company also operates the 1,214-square-kilometre Ngulu block in shallow waters offshore central Gabon. The block includes the Loba oil field discovery and prospects across pre-salt and post-salt plays, with its location providing access to nearby producing fields and infrastructure.

Ryan Kubik holds CPA, CFA and ICD.D designations and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary. His industry leadership experience also includes service on the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers Board of Governors and the Oil Sands CEO Council.
