Enwealth Financial Services Limited, the Kenyan pension and financial services firm founded by businessman Simon Wafubwa, has appointed Janet Waweru Luvai as its chief financial officer as the company expands its pension and investment operations across East Africa.

The appointment, which strengthens the firm’s financial leadership and governance as it pursues long-term growth and sustainability across its markets, comes as Enwealth’s umbrella fund continues to expand, delivering a net return of 18.05% to members in 2025 while increasing its net assets by 12% to Ksh1.19 billion ($9.17 million).

Janet Waweru Luvai brings 15 years of finance experience

Janet Waweru Luvai brings more than 15 years of finance leadership experience spanning Kenya and Uganda, with expertise covering financial management, strategic planning, budgeting, financial modelling, performance reporting, internal controls, regulatory compliance and business transformation.

Janet Waweru Luvai began her senior finance career in Kampala in 2010, joining Britam Insurance Company Uganda as chief accountant. During her tenure, she helped establish the insurer’s finance function, developed policies and procedures, prepared IFRS-compliant financial statements and annual budgets, and managed regulatory compliance.

Janet Waweru moved to Nairobi in 2012 to join Britam Asset Managers as chief accountant and CFO, where she led the finance department and oversaw financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and regulatory requirements until 2018. Enwealth also lists Colony Plus Limited among her previous senior finance roles.

Since October 2021, Janet Waweru has served as CFO of Ed Partners Africa, where she has been responsible for finance strategy, budgeting, performance management and financial operations across Kenya and Uganda. Janet Waweru has also served on the company’s executive management committee and managed relationships with auditors, regulators and industry stakeholders.

Enwealth expands pension and investment footprint

Founded in Kenya in 2011 as Liberty Pension Services and renamed Enwealth in 2016, the company is led by Simon Wafubwa as chief executive. Enwealth serves more than 300 corporate clients and operates across Kenya, Uganda and Mauritius.

The company administers more than Ksh85 billion ($655.2 million) in assets on behalf of pension schemes and other clients, rather than holding the amount on its own balance sheet. Its services span pension administration, trustee services, insurance, investments, financial training, an impact debt fund and a foundation.

The company also operates the Enwealth Umbrella Fund, which allows multiple employers to participate in a pooled retirement scheme and access shared administrative infrastructure.

Umbrella fund assets rise sixfold since 2021

The Enwealth Umbrella Fund recorded net assets of Ksh1.185 billion ($9.13 million) in 2025, up from Ksh1.056 billion ($8.14 million) a year earlier.

The fund received total contributions of Ksh205.3 million ($1.58 million) in 2025, including Ksh30.62 million ($235,997) from employers opting out of the National Social Security Fund’s Tier II arrangement in favour of an approved private scheme. Enwealth said inflows from the segment continued into 2026 as more micro, small and medium-sized enterprises joined the fund.
