Aman expands in Africa with new Mozambique safari lodge in Karingani

Aman is moving into Africa’s luxury safari market with plans for a high-end lodge in southern Mozambique, a step that brings the brand to the continent for the first time.

The project, known as Aman Karingani, adds to a growing list of developments aimed at wealthy travelers seeking quieter, nature-focused destinations.

The lodge will sit inside the 150,000-hectare Karingani Game Reserve, an area known for its wide, open landscapes and diverse wildlife.

The move reflects a broader shift in global travel, where demand is rising for remote locations that offer privacy and close contact with nature.

Mozambique, long overshadowed by more established safari markets such as Kenya and South Africa, is beginning to draw interest from investors and operators.

Its relatively untouched terrain and coastal access are helping to reshape its appeal in high-end tourism.

For Aman, the project is part of a measured expansion into destinations that combine natural beauty with limited development.

The company has built its reputation on quiet, design-led properties that emphasize space and discretion.

A new luxury safari destination

At the center of the development will be a main lodge set above the reserve’s plains.

The design is intended to blend into the landscape, with open views that stretch across the surrounding wilderness.

The lodge will include a selection of dining spaces, a spa and an outdoor pool, all arranged to keep guests connected to the environment.

The approach reflects a focus on simplicity and comfort rather than scale.

Designed for privacy and space

Guest accommodation will be limited to 30 standalone pavilions, each offering one or two bedrooms.

The low density is meant to ensure privacy while reducing the impact on the land.

Each pavilion will include a private deck and pool, with wide views across the reserve.

The layout is designed to bring guests closer to the outdoors without giving up basic comforts.

Expanding into branded residences

Alongside the lodge, Aman plans to introduce a small collection of private residences within the reserve.

These homes, ranging from three to six bedrooms, will be available to buyers seeking a long-term presence in the area.

Set across savannah, woodland and seasonal wetlands, the reserve supports a wide range of wildlife.

The residential offering combines private ownership with access to the same setting, linking tourism with longer-term investment in the area.
