Green Motion launches in Mozambique

Green Motion has entered Mozambique, marking the latest step in the UK-based car rental company’s push across Africa as demand for travel and transportation services continues to rise.

The launch comes at a time when African tourism markets are attracting fresh investment from global mobility companies looking to serve a growing number of leisure and business travelers.

Mozambique, known for its coastline, natural attractions and expanding economy, is increasingly drawing attention from international brands seeking new growth opportunities.

For Green Motion, the move is more than a geographic expansion. It reflects the company’s effort to strengthen its presence in markets where access to reliable transportation remains essential for tourism, commerce and everyday travel.

The new operation will be led by local entrepreneur Samuel Manhique, whose experience in the vehicle rental industry is expected to help establish the brand in Mozambique while adapting its services to local customer needs.

Betting on Mozambique’s growing travel market

Mozambique’s tourism sector has shown signs of recovery in recent years, supported by rising visitor arrivals and increased business activity.

Those trends have created demand for transportation services that can serve both international travelers and local customers.

Green Motion said its Mozambique franchise will focus on delivering customer-centered vehicle rental services while supporting the company’s broader commitment to environmentally responsible transportation.

The business will operate under Green Motion’s global standards while benefiting from local management and market expertise.

Local leadership at the center of growth plans

Founded in the United Kingdom in 2007, Green Motion has expanded into more than 80 countries through a franchise model that places local operators at the center of its growth strategy.

That approach allows entrepreneurs to build businesses with the support of an established international brand while tailoring services to the realities of their local markets.

In Mozambique, Manhique will lead efforts to grow the business and build relationships across the country’s tourism and corporate sectors.

“We are delighted to welcome Samuel and his team in Mozambique into the Green Motion network as we continue to expand across Africa,” said Richard Lowden, founder and CEO of Green Motion.

Expanding a continent-wide presence

Lowden said Africa remains an important market for the company, adding that partnerships with experienced local operators help ensure strong customer service and a deeper understanding of regional markets.

The Mozambique launch adds to a series of recent franchise agreements across Africa as Green Motion builds a broader network on the continent.

The company expects the new operation to support tourism, business travel and local transportation needs while encouraging wider adoption of environmentally conscious mobility solutions.
