Envision Energy, a Chinese global green technology company, has strengthened its African expansion strategy with the launch of a new regional office in Cape Town, positioning itself to capitalize on rising demand for renewable energy, battery storage, and grid modernization across the continent.

The new South Africa office marks a significant step in the company’s long-term commitment to supporting Africa’s energy transition while helping governments and utilities address energy security challenges through clean energy solutions.

South Africa emerges as strategic energy market

Cape Town will serve as Envision Energy’s Southern African headquarters, supporting the company’s growing portfolio of wind power projects, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and integrated renewable energy solutions.

The launch ceremony attracted government officials, energy executives, customers, and industry stakeholders, highlighting the increasing importance of private-sector investment in Africa’s clean energy future.

Speaking at the event, Kane Xu, Senior Vice President of Envision Energy, described South Africa as one of the most important markets in the global transition toward sustainable energy.

According to Xu, the company intends to deepen local partnerships, strengthen technical expertise, and deploy advanced technologies that improve grid reliability while accelerating decarbonization efforts.

Energy security and economic growth

South Africa’s Minister of Electricity and Energy, Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, welcomed the investment, noting that the establishment of the Cape Town office reflects growing confidence in the country’s energy sector reforms and renewable energy ambitions.

The move comes as South Africa continues to attract significant investment in renewable energy infrastructure, battery storage projects, and clean technology aimed at improving electricity supply and supporting long-term economic growth.

Global expertise meets African opportunity

Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Shanghai, Envision Energy has become one of the world’s leading renewable energy technology companies. The company develops smart wind turbines, energy storage systems, and green hydrogen solutions designed to support carbon neutrality goals.

As part of the broader Envision Group, the company operates more than 20 research and development centers and over 60 manufacturing facilities across Asia, Europe, and North America.

With its new Cape Town hub, Envision Energy is positioning itself to play a larger role in Africa’s renewable energy transformation, helping countries expand clean power generation, improve energy resilience, and build a more sustainable energy future.
