Asante Gold Corporation has announced the resignation of its Chief Financial Officer, David Wiens, marking the end of a tenure defined by aggressive capital raising and financial restructuring.

David Wiens‘ departure, effective August 14, 2026, comes after three years in the role during which he helped execute approximately $1 billion in innovative financing transactions to support the company’s expansion.

David Wiens’ role in Asante’s financial transformation
Wiens joined Asante in August 2023 at a pivotal moment, as the company transitioned from exploration into a multi-mine gold producer in Ghana. Drawing on more than two decades of experience in mining finance and capital markets, he played a central role in strengthening the company’s balance sheet, securing long-term funding, and reshaping its shareholder base.

Under his financial leadership, Asante financed the development and operation of key assets, including the Bibiani and Chirano gold mines, while advancing its broader growth strategy across Ghana’s prolific gold belts. His work also contributed to improving investor confidence and maturing the company’s financial and reporting structures.

Executive Chairman Malik Easah acknowledged his contributions, noting that Wiens’ leadership in securing strategic partners and long-term financing had been instrumental to the company’s development. Reflecting on his time at the company, Wiens said it had been an honor to contribute to Asante’s growth alongside its Ghanaian team.

Interim leadership and next steps
Following his exit, Asante has initiated a search for a new Chief Financial Officer. In the interim, Dindiok Chialin, Vice President Finance and Deputy CFO, will assume the role on an acting basis to ensure continuity in the company’s financial operations.

Asante’s growth phase continues
Asante Gold, a multi-listed mining company with operations across the Bibiani and Ashanti gold belts, has emerged as a significant player in Ghana’s gold sector. The company currently operates the Bibiani and Chirano mines and continues technical work on its Kubi Gold Project, alongside exploration across several adjoining prospects.

Wiens’ departure comes at a time when the company is focused on sustaining production growth, advancing exploration targets, and maintaining access to capital markets. The incoming finance chief will be tasked with building on the financial foundation established during Wiens’ tenure, as Asante continues its evolution into a mid-tier African gold producer.
