Egyptian-Saudi businessman Ali Hassan Ali Dayekh, a prominent regional investor and Chief Executive Officer of Saudi Group for Construction Materials, has built a substantial position on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX), holding stakes valued at more than $150 million. His portfolio spans banking, consumer distribution, and investment holdings, reinforcing his status among the most influential shareholders in the country’s capital markets.

Strategic stakes anchor market influence

Ali Dayekh’s investment footprint is anchored by his significant holdings in leading Egyptian financial institutions. He holds an indirect stake of approximately 9.98% in Crédit Agricole Egypt, representing about 124.7 million ordinary shares, positioning him among the bank’s largest individual shareholders.

His influence extends further into the country’s banking sector through a notable stake in Housing and Development Bank (HDB), where he has maintained a long-standing position estimated at around 10%. This holding, valued at roughly EGP4.36 billion ($86.4 million), underscores his sustained commitment to the nation’s financial ecosystem and his ability to navigate market cycles over time.

Diversified exposure across key sectors

Beyond banking, Ali Dayekh has expanded into consumer-facing and investment platforms. He is a major shareholder in MM Group for Industry and International Trade, one of the nation’s leading distribution companies, providing exposure to the country’s growing consumer market.

He also holds a stake in B Investments Holding, a listed investment company that offers indirect access to a diversified portfolio of businesses across multiple sectors. This layered investment approach reflects a strategy focused on both direct equity ownership and broader capital allocation opportunities.

A career rooted in construction and regional expansion

With more than three decades of experience, Dayekh has built his career across construction, industrial materials, and regional investments. As CEO of Saudi Group for Construction Materials, he oversees operations tied to infrastructure and industrial supply chains across the Gulf.

Over the years, he has held leadership and board roles across multiple companies in the Middle East and North Africa, including positions in banking, manufacturing, and construction-related industries. His cross-border involvement spans Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and other parts of the MENA region, reflecting a network-driven investment model.

Positioned within Egypt’s evolving market landscape

Dayekh’s portfolio reflects a concentrated bet on Egypt’s financial and consumer sectors, two pillars of the country’s economic structure. By combining long-term banking investments with exposure to distribution and investment platforms, he has positioned himself to benefit from economic expansion while maintaining diversified risk.

As valuations on the Egyptian Exchange fluctuate, his disciplined approach, centered on strategic stakes and board-level influence, continues to reinforce his standing among the exchange’s most prominent investors.

With a growing portfolio and sustained presence across key sectors, Ali Dayekh remains a quiet but powerful force shaping capital allocation and corporate influence within Egypt’s financial markets.
